hey, i never had eating disorder and I am quiet average in weight. But since getting pregnant, I cannot stop eating omg. The problem is, I enjoy eating when my kids go to sleep. I eat from 8pm till 11pm nonstop while watching Netflix. I never saw a problem with it till last two days I developed headache. Now I am worried I have blood pressure due to the amount of food i consumed 💔
breakfast 2 toast and coffee
snack fruit
lunch today rice and chicken wings then noting till 8pm.
8pm dinner . Make myself cheesy pasta everyday. Sometimes I eat half a pack, sometimes I eat all. Then crisps, then bowel of cereal and any other snack available.
did I destroy myself and giving myself a new condition. Every night I say this is the last time I will do this, then I repeat it again next day.
I used to weigh 55kg and now I am 90kg and 35 weeks pregnant !
please be easy on me 💔🫠
I had my gtt blood surgar level not long ago and it was negative. My only concern is bloody pressure due to the amount of salt consumed late.

it’s very grim isn’t it. 500g of fusilli is 1765 calories according to myfitnesspal and that’s before mayonnaise and cheese and whatever else. Then add the toast, crisps, snacks, cereal you’re probably putting away around 5000 calories which to be honest isn’t going to be healthy. You need extra calories when pregnant but it’s not even balanced

I think going from lunch until 8pm without food may be why you then eat all evening. Could you have a smaller lunch and then some snacks in the afternoon? Make yourself a smaller portion of pasta for dinner and put some salad on the side to make it a healthier meal.
Your body is obviously telling you it needs food so listen to it. At 35 weeks pregnant I think I struggled to eat big meals so would tend to snack throughout the day instead.
But don’t beat yourself up. It’s normal to gain weight during pregnancy and important you get calories in to feed yourself and baby.

I think it's 200 calories more that you need or so. Not an extra 3000.

You need to eat more protein, which will make you feel full. Endless carbs does nothing to help manage your appetite.

Try having eggs for breakfast and some fish, chicken or prawns for lunch. Pulses like chickpeas and lentils are also high in protein. Low fat cheese and yoghurt to a lesser extent.

Wow you just reminded me of my cheesy pasta trimester! It’s definitely a thing then. All I wanted was beige food.

elderflowerspritzer · 11/10/2024 06:12

You're not eating enough protein and fibre to fill you up.

Pasta, rice and toast are all just carbs/ sugar. They get through your system very quickly and all the energy is absorbed fast, making you hungry again really quickly.

You need to eat more vegetables. When you have pasta, have salad or broccoli with it. Add some cannellini beans into it to bulk it out. Have a tomato based sauce rather than creamy cheese all the time.

When you snack, have vegetables, seeds and nuts, as well as just fruit (which is mostly just sugar - again, quick to digest!)

You need to fill yourself up with things that take longer to digest. Your body is probably in shock with the amount of fast energy you are putting into it. Be kinder to it and try giving it what it needs.

Yes, which is why I’ve suggested smaller meals / snacks and healthier things like salad.

It's a lot of food and clearly caused weight gain but to be fair I think it's 500g of packet mac and cheese which isn't the same as 500g of dry pasta. Bachelors packet mac and cheese is 118 calories per 100g for example

ChangedmyMindNotUsingMyRealName · 11/10/2024 06:32

yum. I'm gonna treat myself and make some today :)

Peonies12 · 11/10/2024 07:07

I’d be a bit more worried by the lack of nutrients in your diet, it’s so carb heavy. You’re going a long time without eating as well. Can you try and have more frequent smaller healthier meals so you don’t feel so much like overeating in the evening? You only need an extra 200 calories a day in later pregnancy.

OMGsamesame · 11/10/2024 07:21

Do you feel like you're eating because you're hungry? Or eating even though you're not hungry any more but can't stop anyway?

PolaroidPrincess · 11/10/2024 07:24

I would start to eat more in the mornings so that you aren't Hubert in the evenings and making better choices. So start off by adding something like peanut butter and banana to your toast, then having something more substantial than fruit for your snack, or add some thin on alongside the fruit like put the fruit in porridge or have a handful of mixed nuts with it.

I'd also add in a mid afternoon snack Wink

ChangedmyMindNotUsingMyRealName · 11/10/2024 07:30

Just an idea, obviously just an element of a meal/ snack, but I discovered chopped up cherry tomatoes with a little salt and mayo is nice

maria2bela1 · 11/10/2024 09:24

Try to wean yourself out of habit, but honestly I can get beastly during pregnancy! But I'm paying for it now with a 3 st weight gain I'm still yet to shift from last baby. But I just could not stop myself whilst pregnant.

Yep and that's only in the third trimester, you don't need any extra calories prior! Saying that I found I was absolutely starving when expecting my first, but that just resulted in me going downstairs at 1am most nights to eat a banana. I would say that it sounds like you're getting yourself into a bit of a pickle if I'm being totally honest. Try to think about your long term health as well as baby's in the evenings when you tend to gorge, and as others have said, going 8 hours between lunch and dinner with nothing is probably what's making you feel absolutely ravenous in the evening. I find food habits are very easy to form and very hard to break, but even though you're 35 weeks you can make some positive changes for these last few weeks 🙂

I've been finding a couple of boiled eggs to be a good mid morning snack, or maybe a handful of nuts, anything that's healthy protein.

HotCrossBunplease · 11/10/2024 09:31

You also talk about the “packet” of cheesy pasta so sounds like it’s some sort of UPF instant version. Those are the worst for triggering your body to just want to keep eating, it’s not your fault but you need to understand that the food is designed to make you want to eat more. I am all for convenience food but could you try to make your own macaroni cheese (you can make in advance and microwave) and see if less of that satisfies your craving, maybe add a bit of veg alongside?

Mumof3childrens · 11/10/2024 09:56

Thank you all. My husband just bought me blood pressure monitor and thank god I don’t have blood pressure. I’ll monitor for 24hrs and I have urine dip stick to rule out protein in case pre-eclampsia. Anyways I’ll change my habit from today because I got real scare yesterday

It really helps to break the habit of eating in front of the tv or other screens, you are likely to eat much more than you need and not recognise when you are full when distracted. There are a lot of studies linking this to weight gain and obesity. It’s really a good thing to model to your children that food is eaten at the dining table and when you eat you eat.
