Brandy coloured urine after pubic pain - worried!

Posted earlier about pain in the pubic bone area (came on after a pilates class at midday) which everyone seemed to agree could be SPD. Peed a couple of hours ago and pee was a dark orange, slightly pinky coloured, a bit like brandy (but a little pinker). Have been drinking plenty of water all day, made sure to drink extra after that time going to the loo, now just been again and the same colour (doesn't look dark in the normal dehydrated sense). Am beginning to worry something is wrong. Am 31+4 weeks and everything has seemed ok so far, including a scan I had yesterday.
Anyone had the same thing? Could the two be connected or just a co-incidence? Btw, haven't eaten anything strange today, one beetroot on Sunday (and pee normal since then) plus sardines today, that's the only stuff I've eatne that I don't eat regularly.

i woudl call your MW< as dark urine might be a sign of something, maybe infection or other issue. it is not 'normal', but might not be anything sinister. but pink or dark wee needs checking especially if you are drinking enough

Thanks so much for answering Lulumama, is it something that can wait for tomorrow do you think? Had a couple of urinary tract infections at the beginning of my pregnancy but both pee and pain were different.

Mip, I responded to your earlier thread.

Give your CMW or the AN unit a call. I was freaking out about pain in my abdomen on Sunday, at 12 weeks pregnant and called the hospital on the advice of people here.

As I was told here, it's better to call and be reassured it's nothing to worry about, than to miss something that might be quite serious. The MWs were great and were very reassuring and said it is probably a UTI. Turns out that's all it is, but I'm so glad I made that call!

Hi Lackadaisycal, yes thank you for responding both earlier and now! I'm in Sweden so slightly different system here so no midwife to call. I guess I should call the hospital then. Bit reluctant too as it's midnight here. Do you think it's better to call now then wait till tomorrow morning though?

Call now.....I'm sure they won't mind at all. And it'll put your mind at rest.

Better that they tell you it'll be fine and they'll see you in the morning, than for you to worry yourself sick about it all night.

Take Care, and I'll check in in the morning

Mip · 22/04/2008 23:24

Thanks lackadaisycal, very sweet of you .

hi Mip....just wondered how things were this morning?

Mip · 23/04/2008 15:25

Hello!

Well am thinking the two aren't connected, a couple more posts came up just now on my other thread, both people having their SPD located to pelvic area, so it sounds like you were right and that's it.

Called the hospital last night (thanks for telling me to do that!), they thought it sounded like a UTI. Decided to see how I was this morning and then go to midwife if urine still weird. Woke up this morning and it was back to normal, so not quite sure what happened there. Emailed my midwife and she thought it was dehydration, perhaps delayed from the day before. Not so sure about that as have been drinking loads and pee was fine all morning plus when it changed it was a different colour than normal dehydrated pee, but there you are. Difficult to feel if I have that UTI feeling because of the pubic bone pain. Will keep an eye on it though and pop in to see her if anything changes.

Phew, you very kindly asked me how I was and then you get all this lovely information about a stranger's pee! At least I didn't describe the colour too vividly this time.

Am now wary as husband seems to have caught the horrible norovirus thing (everyone he had a meeting with on Monday came down with it last night... dh came down with it very loudly last night poor thing!). Soooooo don't want that. Trying to be lovely and nurselike to him but not sure how convincing I'm being when I want to hand him everything wearing a pair of Marigolds!

Thanks for checking up on me! x

LOL Mip, I'm glad it settled down OK. I was advised to drink at least 3l a day at about your stage of my last pregnancy. Dehydration can make Braxton Hicks contractions worse as well.

I hope you don't get hte norovirus. I'm sure your DH will understand if you walk around wearing full blown contamination suit

good luck for the rest of your pregnancy

Mip · 23/04/2008 16:55

Yup, 3l is what midwife said this morning in her email. Feel like I'm drinking loads but could be worth measuring what I'm drinking in a day just to see.
Full blown contamination suit?! Fabulous idea ! x
