Shuddering baby at 39 weeks

Hello,

Can anyone help?

My baby appears occasionally to shudder in my belly. This has only started happening in the past few days/week or so.

I tried researching on the net, which I think turned out to be a very stupid thing, and now I have scared myself witless.

My DP thinks its just baby getting herself into position.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Shelly

Not hiccups is it?

no, hiccups are about 1 a second, these are more like 10-20 a second! Imagine rattling a door in a frame kind of thing.

I don't think it's hiccups-they are quite obvious- both mine had hiccups, usually when I'd just got into bed.
My DD used to do this, and when she was born she'd do this funny little shudder from time to time- grew out of it very quickly, but no-one could explain to me what it was. She was FINE, BTW!

Pinkyminky - almost like mini-seizure kind of things. I am glad you DD grew out of them - it is very scary though.

My DS did this in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy, often seemed to happen along with a dose of Braxton Hicks; he's absolutely fine. I have a pal who's experiencing the same thing at the end of her second pregnancy, her first baby didn't do it, so she was really worried too. Have you asked a midwife?

Am so going to give up researching on the net!!!

Many thanks for the reassurances ladies.

Yes kind of, but she didn't seem distressed at all. Let me know if you find anything!

I'm 32wks and I the same thing has just started happening to me. It is a very weird sensation and I didn't get it with DD1. I'm trying not to worry but can't imagine what it could be!

Just thought I'd mention, DD was born by elcs at 39 weeks- not because of any problems for her. MW could not shed any light on her shaking, before or after she was born.

I know exactly what you mean! My LO did it, very wierd sensation. Couldn't think what it was, but nothing resembling it since she came out!

I wouldn't worry

I do want to emphasize- DD had absolutely nothing wrong with her! I don't want to frighten a very pregnant lady!

I get them too - only in the last week or so... I am 35-36 weeks gone now....

They also seem to be related to BH...

This is my first baby.....

So, I am not sure what they are, but I suppose I'm relieved that they seem to be pretty common...

Thanks to all of you, I have never read anything about it before, and it just seems soooo odd!

Anyway, you have set my mind enough to rest for the night, so heading off to my bed now, and I will call the midwife in the morning. If nothing else, at least she is aware that way.

Again, many many thanks.

Shelly

My baby did this too towards the end of my pregnancy, neither of the midwives I spoke to nor my GP had any idea what it was but i did come across a few other women who experienced a similar sensation. It was quite worrying at the time but stopped happening after a few weeks and my daughter is absolutely fine. Please try not to worry, I think its just another weird thing that happens to some of us

My son did exactly the same thing - LOL at 'rattling a door in a frame'! It started around 30 weeks for me and I hated it, imagining all sorts of horrors. He had them every few days right up until he was born, with no rhyme or reason to it - and he was absolutely fine!
