Covid in the second trimester?

Hi friends

So my partner has tested positive for Covid. I tested at the same time and am currently negative however we've been together all weekend, cuddling and kissing as you do and I now find myself which a headache as I write this. If I don't test positive, great, but has anyone on here had Covid during pregnancy? What was your experience?

I'm fully jabbed and boosted and have had Covid 4x before (thanks to working in a school!) but have never had it at 16 weeks pregnant!

Covid is typically worse for those in 3rd trimester of pregnancy so unless you've got underlying health conditions/raised BMI then nothing to do if you do catch it except stay hydrated and keep moving little and often.
I caught covid at your stage of pregnancy and it knocked me properly off my feet in a way it hadn't before, took longer to get better but no lasting impact on me or baby

@SouthwestSis I do have a raised BMI, should have mentioned that. If I do test positive would it be worth giving my midwife a call and letting her know?

I am typically in good health though, I'm medium risk because my BMI is above 35 but I'm on the low end of the risk spectrum as that is the only thing I have. No other health issues. Hopefully it'll just be like a cold if I do get it!

I really wouldn’t worry, I don’t know anyone that tests so there will be loads of pregnant women who have it unknowingly. I had a bad cold around 20/21 weeks, just took paracetamol. I don’t think you need to contact midwife unless you become very unwell/dehydrated or baby’s movements change.

I had Covid at 22 weeks pregnant, I don't think it affected me any more than it would have done normally.

I've just had covid at 36 weeks, now getting over it more or less at 37 weeks! No risk factors for me, and it's just been like a heavy cold with a loss of sense of smell. I only tested as I has multiple maternity/ dental appointments coming up and thought I should let people know in case appointments needed to be rearranged (which they did). My midwife said treat like a normal cold, take paracetamol for any discomfort and call triage if any concerns with movements. All has been fine, just added to the third trimester slog is all! Hope you feel better soon OP.

I had it in the 2nd trimester, and I only ever had the first two Covid vaccinations, back when covid was prevalent and it was the conditions or being able to travel abroad etc - so a long time ago.

I was fine, managed the symptoms at home. Admittedly I did feel rough for about a week, a couple of days mostly in bed, resting. But I could still go about my daily tasks as neeeded. Mostly was a headache, slight fever, and very congested. No cough thankfully.
I was around 20 weeks pregnant I believe.

Didn't feel worried at any point as baby was still very active, could still eat and keep fluids down, just made sure to rest adequately. Xxxxx

Not that you ever want covid in pregnancy but the 2nd trimester would be the better time to get it if you do.

I was pregnant in 2020 and had it then when they didn't know if there were risks to unborn babies so it was taken very seriously. Thankfully, it was found to be no more dangerous to pregnant women than to anyone else unless there were other medical concerns

I am in the same boat as you. I’m 38 weeks now but caught covid in the second trimester (after being told at booking appt I won’t get covid booster as we were heading out of the season). Completely knocked me off my feet to be honest but only for about 3 or 4 days and there have been no issues since, baby is completely fine too. Rest up, plenty of fluids and let your midwife know if you are concerned.
