Not felt baby move for a while

I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and have an anterior placenta. I did start to feel small movements from 19 weeks and have felt him move everyday even just for a small amount. However today I’ve not felt him at all, I’ve tried loads of tips to try and bring movement on but nothing yet. I only had my anatomy scan 6 days ago and everything was perfect but now I feel like I can’t feel him today. Is this normal? I’m not sure if ringing my midwife will help due to only being 21 weeks with my first pregnancy and anterior placenta. I just hope he’s ok x

Give the local maternity assessment unit a ring, they’ll probably get you to go in and they’ll listen to baby through a Doppler. Better to get checked!
(I had an anterior placenta with my first pregnancy and went to MAU at least once a fortnight! I’ve got the same again this time and have already been twice at 23 weeks so don’t panic or feel embarrassed or anything, they’d rather see you than not)! Hope all is okay x

Agree with PP, contact the hospital. Ours has a triage line. They won’t be able to do proper monitoring yet (til 26 weeks I think),but they can check heartbeat with sonic aid. I only got regular movement from around 30 weeeks, and even now I’m past my due date, I still get periods of nothing!

It's definitely normal to have spells of not feeling movement at that stage, but I agree with PPs, there's no harm at all in contacting your maternity triage and asking for some advice - they will probably suggest that you come in so they can check on baby's position and have a listen to the heartbeat. There won't be much they can do other than that as you're not far enough along for them to use the CTG machine on you, but it should give you some reassurance. They would always rather you got in touch if you have a concern - I went to triage twice for reduced movements in my pregnancy and was never made to feel like I was overreacting or wasting anyone's time.

Agree no harm in contacting your hospital or midwife unit although I think they'll tell you this is totally normal at this stage.
The general guidance is to start tracking movements around 28 weeks as up until then they still so teeny with a lot of room so can regularly change positions which will affect what you feel and when
I had an anterior placenta in my first pregnancy and had a lot of issues with not feeling movements throughout the third trimester.
There were even times I was having a scan and could see her practically spinning around on the screen but I couldn't feel a thing.

Definitely go and get checked. Though to reassure you I have an anterior placenta too and around the same time as you I definitely had days where I didn’t feel anything. There was nothing wrong, I think they can just get comfy in a position that’s really tucked away or be facing your spine so you won’t feel them. I’m 24 weeks now and she’s much stronger so I can feel her all the time now. Hope it’s all ok (and I’m sure it will be!) x

As others have said, contact the hospital just to get everything checked out. Hope all is well.

I remember having several days like this around the same time and being very worried.

Once I started feeling movement I expected to feel it every day, but it wasn't like that at all.

Movement only really got consistent for me when baby was a bit bigger. Maybe 24 weeks? Hard to remember.

I remember having quieter days movement wise at that stage, I found lying down on my left side helped me feel the flutters - not sure if it put baby into a better position or just good blood flow etc. But always worked for me. If you're worried though, definitely get your midwife to listen in with doppler to give you reassurance x
