"Pre-Buying" I am getting thinks ready, my baby is not due until December- due date end of December. We have moved house twice in 8 months so lots to be doing. It's my first baby, I can't wait and I think I have most things I need to begin with 😊😊😊😊 but any must haves and suggestions for a new mum here are so welcome!!! I also want to get some baby formula in and don't know what to start or what to go with. There are so many variants on the shelf for each brand, i.e., Anti colic or hungry baby ect. I just wanted to get a standard new born formula... I got so confused by the massive variants on the shelf so haven't got it yet! Advice and recommendations please xx

Boobs and a good baby sling (stretchy to start)… think that’s basically all I used and I’m definitely not a minimalist

Cloth nappies are amazing !

For formula, buy whatever formula is available in your nearest big shop. If you run out, the last thing you want is to be having to order it from somewhere online. For us that was Cow and Gate but there are loads of others. Don't bother with anti reflux or comfort or hungry baby until your baby is here. If they never need it, it's a waste. Just look for the basic "first infant formula". If you go for a big brand, they sometimes do something called a starter pack which is 6 mini bottles of ready to drink and six pre-sterilised teats that just screw on. Really easy for if you need it in the early days or in hospital.

Have you done your antenatal classes yet? This, alongside breastfeeding, was all covered in our classes

I'm sure loads of people will come on and recommend kendamil, but once again, they are not accepting new orders on the website. Drives me mad how unreliable they are.

@Noodlesnotstrudels thanks for this very helpful!
Not done any classes what so ever! Hoping to do some when I stop work at the end of October x

Yes to the advice of getting whatever formula you can easily buy in your local shop. Think about whether you want one that also comes in pre made bottles. Don’t buy loads of bottles etc if you think there is a chance you will breastfeed as everything can be ordered on Amazon for next day delivery. I ended up with one bottle refuser (first) and one who I combi fed. What have you got so far?

If you are driving home from the hospital you will need a car seat, it’s worth practicing putting it in the car and figuring out how the straps work in advance.

A v shaped feeding pillow is useful for breastfeeding and formula feeding in my opinion.

Then you need somewhere for baby to sleep, clothes and some way of transporting the baby- sling or pram.

I always buy the snufflebabe balm for friends so you have it in the house when they get their first cold.

@tealandteal thanks. Ahh that snufflebabe balm I've not heard of will deff look into that.

I would like to try and breastfeed have bought a manual pump and if I am successful will buy a good electric one.
I have the travel system ordered and will definitely get practice with the car seat - great tip thanks!

Are you in the UK? Formula is very heavily regulated so most brands have the exact same ingredients/recipe - just go for whichever is the cheapest!

@WonderingAboutBabies I am indeed in UK, this is something I didn't know thanks for commenting 😀 x
