Literally feeling sick all day everyday and nothing at all is helping! Any suggestions? I've had to take a day off work it's that bad.

Have you requested a review with your GP?
Sorry you're feeling so rough!

Yeah it's grim isn't it, but very normal. 24/7 nausea for me in three pregnancies until about 12 weeks.
Tips are just the usual... never ever get hungry (nibble all day), get loads of sleep as tiredness makes it worse, keep hydrated. You can try anti sickness bands or emeterm as they work for some people.

No, so worried about work and my boss thinking I'm taking the mick.

Thank you. I have sickness bands and eating ginger biscuits but don't seem to be working. Honestly it's horrible.

Yeah there is basically not much you can do about it. You just have to endure it unfortunately. If it gets very bad go and see the GP. I'm not sure where the line is between 'normal' and 'requires meds' but definitely if you can't get out of bed all day or function in any way that would be over it! (Or extreme vomiting/dehydration obviously but you only mention nausea so presume you don't have that).

RichTeaCheddars · 03/10/2024 14:04

If it gets worse or continues please speak with your GP.
Small sips of water (cold works best for me, maybe warm for others...) and little nibbles of something helps keep the sickness at bay. Ginger doesn't really work if it's going to develop into Hyperemesis Gravidarum. But if it helps you, then keep trying.
I'm 5.5 weeks and on two different medications already to try to keep the HG away

I was the same for the first 3 months of my pregnancy. Nothing helped but I did take 2 months off sick- was not able to do anything! I'd say rest as much as possible. Sending love - it does pass eventually

Superscientist · 03/10/2024 15:28

I had 5 weeks of only working 1 or 2 days a week in July. I tried 2 antiemetics which were enough to help me function to a degree and work on less bad days.
Speak to your GP about antiemetics.
My line manager was understanding and even said "we expect some time off with sickness especially in the early days".
When I was pregnant with my daughter I had time off and was on antiemetics through out the 1st and 3rd trimester and odd days in the 2nd trimester. The blasted sickness kept coming back! I had the same employer then but was in the office full time during the first trimester. Oddly this meant less time off work as my nausea tends to start at 10am which meant I was generally well enough to get the train into work but the too nauseous to get back on it to go home until late afternoon so stayed at work trying not to be too obvious!

OverTheRainbow18 · 03/10/2024 22:01

Definitely speak to your GP! There are a few different medications you can try. I wasn't keeping anything down at all, I'm not on Xonvea and am normally okay enough to keep dinner down, sometimes lunch. Still being sick but it's much better than it was without meds!

sel2223 · 04/10/2024 02:33

Yep, first trimester is absolutely brutal. My sickness finally seems to be sl calming down now I'm 15 weeks 🤞🤞🤞

Alwaystired2023 · 04/10/2024 02:37

It's the worst OP, so awful. Go see your GP you shouldn't to suffer. I'm not sure what your boss is like but you aren't taking the mick, it is all very real - hopefully they are understanding

GrampianGirl · 04/10/2024 03:43

Ugh, it's really horrible. It amazes me that women go on to have multiple pregnancies. Also I've no idea how women that suffer from whatever that thing is when they have extreme sickness cope.

I only had it with my last kid so that helped as I knew it was the last time. That's not very helpful for you though.
Do you look ill? I didn't take time off work but I looked really rough so everyone at work was kind to me. It didn't matter what I did I still felt continuously sick so went to work as it distracted me a little bit.

One day late in the pregnancy it disappeared suddenly. It didn't slowly get better it was sudden. I couldn't believe it when it happened and was worried it would come back but it didn't luckily.

Hope you feel better soon.
