Coventry hospital Vs Warwick hospital maternity services

Looking to get any opinions on Coventry hospital Vs Warwick hospital maternity services. I had a previous c section and very bad experience at Coventry hospital so I have requested to be referred to Warwick hospital. I am trying for a vbac this time and bit confused about which hospital would be better for giving birth and postnatal support with breastfeeding?
Btw, they both have said I will be on the labour ward at both the hospital due to continuous monitoring needed because of previous C-section.

Can’t speak for Coventry but I had a fantastic experience at Warwick a couple of weeks ago. The staff were so kind and lovely. I was never questioned or judged for wanting an ELCS and when I went into labour before my booked date there was never any question over whether I could still have a c-section.
I spent 2 nights on Swan Ward afterwards and the care overnight was so good. Lots of feeding support available too.

Hi
i had my baby in Warwick. I live in Solihull and the community midwife told me that most people that have a choice opt for Warwick. I had a complicated labour, I’m not sure if the hospital were at fault or if it was unavoidable regardless. however my after care was absolutely brilliant. The midwives could not do enough for me and listened to what I needed. I was in a separate room following the birth and they were brilliant at helping me with breastfeeding also.

When you say Coventry, do you mean the university hospital? Walsgrave?

They saved my DDs life. I can't praise them enough. It was also a lovely modern hospital in comparison to Heartlands (my local hospital at the time and I was blue lighted to Cov). Parking a bloody nightmare though. But Warwick not much better for that either.

Warwick has never been one of my faves (lots of bad memories). But I've not had an experience with the maternity unit.

Yes their parking is crap. If you have appointments there you will end up driving around and around for a space. When I went in to give birth I had gone for a sweep and was told my waters had gone 3 days before and needed to get baby out asap so I’d already done the circling for a space…not sure how you’d cope with the parking in a panic situation but to be fair I think I’d just abandon my car where I could and take the fine!

ds was born at UHCW. They were busy and not enough staff. Some staff were brilliant and some weren’t. We were there because his birth was going to be complicated and only one consultant there could do it.

a friend was a obs gynae dr at Warwick and she would recommend it every time. I’ve only heard good things about the staff at Warwick.

Had my son at Warwick after being transferred there after a week long induction at Coventry. They were really kind and attentive and treated me well. The birth was horrible but not due to them at all.

I've just picked Warwick, am 12 weeks. I had my little girl at Coventry 2 years ago. They were very busy and the midwife was really rude, didn't believe me about my labour progressing and I gave birth on the triage ward, didn't make it to labour. Then there was no room to move me up to the post labour ward so I went home from the labour room I eventually got. Hoping I can avoid this with Warwick but know staffing will probably be an issue there too! I'm hoping Warwick's birth centre will be open, Coventry's vary rarely is due to lack of staff!

I know this thread is old, but I’m having to make a choice between Walsgrave and Warwick now, so thought I’d bump to see if there has been any more recent experience!

Had my second baby at Coventry and they were great. First baby at Warwick and also great. Depends if you are high risk etc, I'd go for Coventry as they have more specialised equipment /NICU etc. Both are good choices though.

I posted on this thread last year about choosing Warwick after not a great experience at Coventry. I have to say Warwick were amazing! I had my DS in May. Started out in Bluebell birth center and they were wonderful. My labour stalled after getting there and contractions slowed right down. They let me stay in Bluebell overnight which was very relaxing and comfortable but I just wanted to go home in the morning cause nothing was picking up again, contractions got pretty irregular and not as intense.
Last check with the doppler they noticed a dip in DSs heart rate. They sent me up to maternity to go on a monitor for a bit.
I was on the monitor for a while and DS's heart rate began dripping right down with contractions so emergency button was pressed.
They were originally going to break my waters to get things moving but on examination the cord was infront of my cervix and absolutely no way my waters could be allowed to break cause this would probably result in a cord prolapse and the emergency button was pressed again.
Room got very very busy but everyone made sure everything that was happening was explained thoroughly to myself and DH. Exactly 20 minutes after the emergency button was pressed, my DS was delivered by the most calm and caring midwives, anaesthetist and surgeons by emergency cesarean.
After care was amazing, had to stay overnight and was really struggling with breast feeding, midwife sat with me for about an hour and made me feel amazing, got me a hospital pump and DS was feeding from bottle with pumped milk. She also told off the snoring husband in the bay next to me to please be considerate if he was going to stay after my DS was finally asleep.
Every person we met was so caring, it could have been quite traumatic experience but they made it an amazing one and I would 100% choose Warwick again!

Thanks so much @BiscuitCheeks I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to update the thread with your experience. We’re definitely leaning towards Warwick - your feedback completely aligns with that of close friends who’ve also had positive experiences at Warwick recently.

I gave birth at Warwick and my experience was so bad was practically forced into a vbac birth, gave me no say in being induced and then left me induction ward followed none of my birth plan and it wasn’t until my body starting pushing for itself they believed I was in labour so went from 3-10cm with no pain meds bc I was refused them and in a ward with 7 other poor ladies having to listen to me.
