Hi I'm 21 weeks pregnant and I think I only ever felt what I think is a flutter twice . I know as a first time mum it can be up to 24 weeks to feel anything properly but my anxiety is eating me up . Especially as there's only another 3 weeks until should start to worry more 😭 what happens when I get to this point if I've not felt movements by 24 weeks ! I'd like to know just in case , would I have to stay over night in the hospital to monitor baby's movements? I know it's possible to never feel baby's movements as I know there's people who don't even know they are pregnant until they go into labour but I am dying to experience baby kicks .

Please ease my anxiety , is anyone else in the same situation and everything was okay

I would also like to add that baby was fine and results normal at my 20 weeks anatomy scan

Can you call midwife and ask? They may do a hear rate check if you're worried. Worth asking or popping to local hospital if you can, they won't be annoyed you're there and it'll help you feel more relaxed.
Did they mention where placenta was during scans? If it's at the front this can mean baby kicks are harder to feel.

Exactly I'm in the process of changing my midwife . She is not professional and she is main reason I have anxiety

I have posterior placenta so I shouldn't have a problem

Try and call your local maternity unit at hospital, tell them you're worried about baby movements. They should let you come in but just in case, really worth pushing to come in and be monitored if you're anxious about it

I'm sure you will feel something soon and, once it starts properly, hopefully your anxiety will ease up.
Wait till 24 weeks then contact someone for advice if still nothing - no point worrying in advance just 'in case' you haven't felt something in 3 weeks time.
You don't need to call EPU or report issues with movements, there isn't an issue, it's completely normal for it to take up to 24 weeks for a first time mum to feel kicks for the first time

At my 16 week appt she asked and I hadn’t felt anything.
Mw said perfectly normal and was clear it’s perfectly normal not to feel right up until 24 weeks.
I also have a posterior placenta.
it’s hard to wait but until 24 weeks she was clear they wouldn’t be anyway concerned.
maybe wait until then and ask at that appt about next steps if you’ve not felt anything.
bery likely you will have.

I had a couple of flutters and then nothing for 3-4 weeks until a very strong kick.

Hello I'm first time mum and felt first movement at 19w2d however it has been every other day up until about 2 days ago (I'm now 20w4d) and then I noticed he was more active.

I'd like to note though that I kept thinking I was quite late to have kicks as I have a posterior placenta too but I noticed at most of my scans my baby doesn't really move much, I have to do quite a bit to get him to move lol. I.e cold sugary drinks sometimes work, I find my baby moves lots after eating an orange lol, fizzy sweets, star jumps, jiggle my belly or shake my hips standing up etc. You may just experience them a bit later but that's also normal! Your baby just might be a bit like mine and likes to stay comfy and still 😅

I don’t think I got proper kicks til 30 weeks? Had movement before that from about 22 weeks but not that noticeable: I’m 39 weeks now and I haven’t had any patterns with the movement! Even 24 weeks isn’t a hard guaranteee; I really wouldn’t worry. My friend didn’t have any movement til 28 weeks, midwives weren’t concerned.

Hi OP, I started feeling flutters at 16 weeks, and kicks around 18-19 weeks. I'm now 25 weeks and can feel the baby a lot.

I'm part of a group of pregnant women on whatsapp, all the same gestation. Some people, even with posterior, don't feel as much as others. It's all just to do with positioning, where the baby is kicking, how active you are (i.e. if you're on your feet all day, you won't notice them as much), and how much fat you have on your stomach as well.

If you saw the baby at 20 weeks and all was fine, I wouldn't worry until 24 weeks. At your 24 week appointment, the midwife should do a heartbeat check and that should ease your worries :)
