Hi, I need help, what foods do you eat in early pregnancy? I’m so worried as you read one thing on Google and they say one thing then another. Any advice on food options would be great 😊

I ate whatever I could stomach. Cheesy crisps made up a large part of my diet.

Eat as you were, prioritising the usual protein, wholefoods etc! NHS website has a good list of foods to avoid but you don't need to do anything special! Especially the first trimester I would just listen to your body and eat what it wants - I know in my first pregnancy all I wanted was beige carbs!!

Breadsticks for the first few weeks with my second, anything else made me want to puke.

If you’re feeling okay just eat normally.

As long as you're having a balanced diet, just eat whatever you normally would.

TabsTiger · 23/09/2024 20:16

A balanced diet if you can, although all I could keep down in the first trimester was ready salted crisps! Pregnacare multivitamins are good too.

sel2223 · 23/09/2024 21:27

Anything you can keep down - which is likely to be crackers, salted crisps.... maybe a slither of cheese if you're lucky.
I managed some juicy fruit occasionally but not always.
The most important thing is to stay hydrated

HappierTimesAhead · 23/09/2024 21:30

As per previous posters, eat whatever you can keep down. Ritz crackers and pot noodles for me. I wouldn't usually eat pot noodles but it was bizarrely the only hot food I could stomach.

I couldn't handle anything beige it had to be fruit and veg and palate cleansing type foods or strong flavours. I struggled to keep foods down and anything that tasted the same going in and out I couldn't cope with
I couldn't drink water but could sip smoothies. Having flavour and being a bit thicker helped me.
In terms of foods to avoid. Stay of social media and random blogs stick to trusted sites such as the NHS or other countries equivalent.

Just a normal healthy balanced diet? And do not Google or use social media for advice. Look at NHS pregnancy advice if you want some guidance. And if you have nausea or sickness, just eat what you can.

I avoid salami/chorizo cured meats if they are not cooked. I also check the cheese, on the nhs some are not recommended. Other than that I eat as normal.

The high iron content of pregnacare often makes women feel even more nauseous in early pregnancy, it's not really spoken about though for some reason.

I took seperate vitamin d , c and folic acid tablets after someone said the same to me and it made a huge difference. I increased iron intake through diet and gentler forms of iron supplements.
