Castor oil go induce labour at 38 weeks?

My cousin did it and had a pretty painful and fast labour as a second time mum. Has anyone got any personal experiences. I was induced first time and hated it. Would hate to be induced again. I thought I'd take it in a milkshake at 38 weeks and only have a tablespoon rather than the whole 2/3 as it might me too intense.

What are your opinions ?

DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!

Extremely dangerous as can make the baby poo inside you. I used to work as a pharmacy dispenser - had to hide castor oil sometimes as pregnant women would get told no and send other people in.

Why would you do something that is known to have major risks to your baby? This is absolutely ridiculous.

No33 · 23/09/2024 00:08

You'd be fucking stupid to do this.

Nursemumma92 · 23/09/2024 06:25

No definitely don't do it.

dhxxx · 23/09/2024 10:12

Why not just wait for the baby to come when it's ready?

2poorlygirls · 23/09/2024 11:17

Out of interest, why did you hate being induced? I'm being induced on Wednesday, is it that bad?

Starlight7080 · 23/09/2024 11:19

Why do people still do this ! It can harm the baby and also make you sick and dehydrated which is never good in labour.

WhiteCatsRock · 23/09/2024 11:20

Flip sake do people still believe in this 😳

Beastlybeautiful · 04/10/2024 22:44

Update, I tried it, all I got was severe diarrhoea and on off contractions that eventually wore off. Do not recommend. Still very much pregnant!

SD1978 · 05/10/2024 05:53

Congratulations all you got was a mild income and giant harm your child. You must be pleased.

SD1978 · 05/10/2024 05:54

Autocorrect. Meant to say mild inconvenience and didn't harm your child.

Starlight7080 · 05/10/2024 06:09

Why would you try it after so many people warned you it isn't good.

I wouldn't ingest anything else, but have you looked at acupuncture for induction OP? Something im considering to avoid induction ( not horror stories for all but mine is a bit triggering).

You were lucky!

I've seen quite a few comments on castor oil lately on MN. It's v old fashioned so I'm not sure where all the comments are coming from.

Has some brainless tik tocker been recommending it or something
