Concerned after seeing some spotting after positive test

I had my embryo transfer on the 31st of August and my test date was the 12th of September, postive pregnancy test. Prior to the test a few days before I had some spotting which was implantation. I've had no more until last night when totally took me by surprise seeing some on the tissue paper, still there today. I have spoken to my clinic who have advised me to rest as much as possible and continue with my medication. I have a scan on the 30th.

Please try not to worry - I have had 2 (successful!) IVF pregnancies and I had spotting with both. Always around weeks 5-7 from what I can remember.

With my second pregnancy it was definitely heavier (red blood) when I went to the toilet. All ended well.

I am now pregnant with my third (surprise - non IVF) baby and had two weeks of brown spotting.

It can often be that some of the blood comes away straight away but some is “stuck” and takes a while. With this pregnancy I went in for a scan and they could show me where the old blood actually was and tell me how many ml was left (slightly gross!).

good luck xxx

@CheshireMum88 been trying not to, this is our third transfer, been on this journey since 2020.

Really concerned me seeing it on the paper, I am on two progesterone pessaries a day which I've been doing round the front and I'm wondering whether there has been some irritation, so going to try the other way and see if that makes any difference. Also on progynova and lubion.

Got a scan on the 30th and I'm truly hoping everything will be ok. Thank you ❤️ xxx

I had spotting and minor bleeding for the first 16 weeks with my middle and youngest, it was caused by a hematoma and cervical erosion. Not harmful conditions to me or the baby, just there and they can cause bleeding if that makes sense. It’s easier said than done but try not to worry, there’s every chance it’s nothing to worry about x

@boredaf it's concerning when you see that and not expect it. I'm going to do the pessaries at the back to see if that makes any difference as I've read there can be irritation by the pessaries. Been trying not to worry and remain calm. Xx

It is it’s very worrying! And it’s very hard not to panic, I know trying to stay calm is far easier said than done. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

@boredaf it really is! Still noticed something is still there on the tissue paper. Thank you xxx

@Rainbowsunshine81 Oh I had forgotten all about the progesterone pessaries - so grim! And yes they can definitely cause irritation. But I honestly also think it is just so typical to have spotting - it’s awful in the moment and then so quickly forgotten as things progress.

I have everything crossed for you. I remember how the wait for every scan / appointment feels never ending. Xx

Rainbowsunshine81 · 20/09/2024 20:05

@CheshireMum88 I'm hoping things settle down, quite anxious when have seen it and have felt myself tense up at times, which I know isn't good, so try and not do.

Thank you ❤️ it feels like it's forever, just take one day at a time. Xx

@CheshireMum88 Scan went well thank you. Measured about 6 weeks 4 days to 7 weeks give or take either side with a lovely strong heartbeat. I just want everything to continue to be ok. Xx

That’s fantastic news!! I know it’s hard, I have been there but please try and enjoy it! My biggest wish is that I had enjoyed the pregnancy rather than worrying about each new scan date xx

@CheshireMum88 ❤️ ❤️ I'm trying to and want to enjoy it. Feeling so very grateful 🙏🏻 xx
