Rainbow baby worried about early scan

Hey lovely people, I had a 6 week scan the other week and can’t stop looking at scan photo trying to work out what the bits are inside the sack, where the placenta is and what the shapes are to the bottom and top left, outside the sac??? Feeling a bit nervous as I miscarried two weeks before I got pregnant

Hi love. You won't see a whole lot at this point, it's very early so baby is just a tiny embryo and a yolk sack. The placenta won't be seen yet either. Most places except EPU won't do scans this early for this reason, as it causes unnecessary worry but there really isn't much to see yet. I get the worry though, I'm 13 weeks with this pregnancy after a MC in April so I understand the stress. Sit tight and keep your chin up!! If you can get a scan at about 8 weeks you'll see a lot more xxx

There won't be a placenta yet. 6 weeks is very early for a scan, unless medically necessary. I'm surprised you got a private one so early, the private place I used wouldn't scan til 8 weeks. If you're concerned, speak to the sonographer at the scan place. Understandable you're anxious, I was the same in my current pregnancy after a miscarriage, but I quickly learnt that scans didn't help my anxiety. Try and assume everything is fine, keep busy, distract yourself, focus on what you can control like healthy food, exercise, sleep, baths, whatever helps you feel good.

It's at the top - but as others have said, there's not much to see here yet, and it's not a very zoomed photograph. Not many places have scan equipment strong enough to zoom enough to see much at six weeks, and even when they do, you can't see too much.

The placenta won't be visible yet. A heartbeat will be visible in a couple of weeks, and it'll start to look vaguely baby-ish, and then it'll look like what you're expecting when you get to your 12 week scan - but that's double the time that you've had so far. It's got a LOT of growing to do first.

It's really normal to panic after a previous loss, but for now, be reassured that this is exactly what they expected to see.

Hi thank you guys it was not done at a private hospital it was an emergency scan because of pain I had but thankfully no bleeding this time. I missed my period so got pregnant about two weeks after the miscarriage! Yes very worried this time round and thinking what are all the bits lines etc around outside think I’m just over thinking a lot!

They did see the heart beat though at first she didn’t and then she zoomed in and we saw it 🥰

if it was NHS, I think you need to trust they'd tell you if any concerns. but at that stage, all they can really do is see heartbeat and that the pregnancy is in the right location.
