Low PAPP-A stress

Had a phone call today from a midwife at the hospital who said my PAPP-A level had come back slightly low. She advised to start taking aspirin daily and that they will monitor me more closely with extra scans.
I just feel very stressed with the news. I’ve read up lots on it and it mostly seems ok as long as they know. This baby is a very longed for IVF baby and it just feels like the excitement I had built up feels very dangerous now in case something goes wrong.
Has anyone experience low PAPP-A or any advice?

We're in the exact same position (ivf baby too) and have asked around a lot. Everyone I can find who has had it, has had no problems at all. So trying not to overthink!

I had it. Didn’t even take the aspirin as no one told me to (until they told me to stop taking it!)

Babes perfect.

Weirdly preg 2 Papp was fine! I don’t think they fully understand it. Don’t worry about it.

Everything I’ve read is the same, that all the pregnancies and babies were fine so I’m going to try to do the same. So hard after all the IVF stress to then have something in the pregnancy to worry about!

I’ve found out I have PAPP A too, at first I was a little panicked but my midwife put my mind at complete ease and tbh I don’t really think about it anymore. Just looking at the positives that you get to see the little one growing more often! I’m sure all will be fine for us x

I had this with my second baby and wanted to give a different perspective.
My daughter had slowed growth right at the end, between 38 and 40 week scans so she was induced. The placenta was a total state which confirmed that she had been growth restricted, which is one of the outcomes linked to papp a. She was however, perfectly healthy, not very small at 6lb 7oz and by 6 months old has completely caught up in size with no effects whatsoever.
No one can confirm that papp a was the cause of course, and most babies will not be affected. But I wanted to share that even though we did have some side effects, my baby was born totally healthy. We are in the minority, and I was terrified especially when growth stated to tail but honestly the impact was not bad at all.

I had it in my first pregnancy- not an IVF pregnancy though. No one told me to take asprin (this was only in 2022) I just had extra scans. Baby born at 40+3 weighing 7lbs 8oz. The midwife did say my placenta was quite small when it was delivered, but it obviously did the job because all my scans were fine and my baby was a good weight. I'm pregnant again now and don't have it this pregnancy so if you have any more babies you won't necessarily have it again.

I had it with baby number two, had a perfectly healthy pregnancy and he was born at 39 weeks naturally weighing 8lbs exactly, he is now an absolutely enormous six month old who everyone think is about 18 months so it’s done him no harm. I wish I hadn’t worried about it so much during my pregnancy, I think as long as you are monitored there is no need and it spoils things for you. I also read that most problems are associated with the lowest levels so if it’s just a bit low it’s not really an issue but they have to set a lower limit

There was some good research by Liverpool university which suggested taking cods liver oil capsules/having portions of oily fish had the same effect as aspirin so after discussing with my consultant I had the smaller dose of Aspirin 75mg and a daily capsule plus x two portions of oily fish a week
