Hey guys! It's my first pregnancy. I've had my first pregnancy test 03.09 it came out positive straight away, then a few days later another one. My first day of my last period was 03.09.2024. I had my first scan yesterday. The lady didn't want to tell me anything as I had booked pelvis ultrasound before pregnancy for irregular periods, so it wasn't supposed to be for pregnancy. What week of pregnancy am I in? Do you think it looks normal for now? Also another question.
Maternity pay.. I don't have a clue bout anything. Til today I'm earning around 2k a month after tax. So l understand I'll be getting this for the first 12 weeks of going to maternity right. After that 50% for then 10 weeks, and then what? I'll be a very single mother.
What kind of financial support l'll get from government & how much monthly singiel mother's getting? When can I give the baby for nursery? Not gonna lie, I'll need to get back to work as soon as my maternity will end up.. What options I will have? Please moms give me some ideas, options, open my eyes little bit beacuse I'm absolutely clueless and I'm losing my mind..

Congratulations!

According to the NHS due date, you're due June 2025, meaning you're very, very early, a couple of weeks or so. Your baby can go to nursery as soon as you finish maternity leave.

Your first day of period and pregnancy test are the same date. Could you let us know what the dates are again?

Assuming you are in the UK? You can get stat maternity pay through your work for the remaining weeks up to week 39 I think it is.

From when your baby is 9 months old you can claim for 30 hrs free (well heavily reduced for most nurseries). It’s technically 22hrs per week if it’s spread over the 51 weeks. So that will hopefully help reduce the cost of the nursery.

@christophina if you go by your LMP of 3rd August then you are 6 weeks and 1 day. It could be a bit earlier than this if you ovulated later though.

LMP makes you about 6 weeks but this is just a guide as everyone's cycles are different.
You would get an official due date at the 'dating scan' at 12 weeks

Your maternity pay will depend on your employer and your contract so you will need to check that and their maternity policy.
This week or next week you should register with your local midwife team who can arrange your first appointment and another scan to date your pregnancy depending on the date of your last period.
Also remember to start taking folic acid if you haven't already.
