Hey!
in my first trimester I was dreadfully sick and vomiting. I’m on Xonvea & I was taking the max dose each day.
at 13/14 weeks my sickness did die down a lot but I am still taking one tablet each morning. That one tablet helps me alot! I’m able to work and go about my day pretty normally. Able to eat what I can

This week I’ve tried to not take that tablet on some days to try to see if I really need it or not. And omg I do! On them days that I didn’t take it I have felt so sick and nausea and struggled to get through the day and eat anything. Avoiding vomiting as much as I can. Does that one tablet really change so much for me?! Obviously the days I didn’t take that one tablet I did get bad aniexty as I don’t want to feel sick and not be able to work or struggle that day, maybe it’s just in my head?! I really wanted to stop taking them 😢

I'm glad you've got something that works, constant sickness is grim, mine was only relieved by giving birth unfortunately.

Curlywurlyandbuttons · 15/09/2024 12:31

I was on ondansetron for all my pregnancies 5 weeks - birth as I couldn’t get my HG controlled otherwise and all was fine

Kt1704 · 15/09/2024 12:32

@Curlywurlyandbuttons @TheLurpackYears Oh so sorry ladies you had it throughout the whole pregnancy. I do realise some women do! I wouldn’t know how I would cope!!! I just didn’t think one tablet each morning could make such a whole difference for me for the whole day

I haven’t taken it today to test. I’ve ate cereal and yoghurt this morning but I just now feel so sick and nauseas. I just took one and going for a nap. I suppose I’ll continue taking them then!

I had to take mine up to 27 weeks and then it came back at 31 weeks, seems to have died down again now though (37 weeks). Good luck!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 15/09/2024 12:38

I was nauseous all the way through my pregnancy, unfortunately some of us have bodies that don't like being pregnant ☹️

Kt1704 · 15/09/2024 12:40

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn No of course. I’m clearly one of them haha. But glad something is working for me. I just didn’t think one tablet per morning could take the nausea feeling away all day when before I was taking 4!

And I’m getting headaches most days (blood
pressure fine) so also wanted to see if it was the tablet making the headaches worse as the box states it as a side affect x

I'm still taking 2 Cariban tablets a day at 22 weeks. Down from 4 a day
Same as you, I tried a day without around week 16/17, and it set me back for a couple of days. Decided I don't need to be a martyr, and if the tablets work and the doctor is happy to prescribe, I will keep taking them!

MsMajeika · 15/09/2024 13:36

I had to take one Cariban a day throughout my whole first pregnancy and was still throwing up during labour. It was such a relief to give birth and feel normal again.

Funnily enough, I was absolutely fine in my second pregnancy.

Kt1704 · 15/09/2024 14:00

@ttcnumero1 Aw! Similar to me then! Thank you for the message. I won’t kill myself anymore and not take them. They help me eat and that’s what I need for bubba!

@MsMajeika Oh bless you! Was it straight after birth you felt better?

Yes, immediately! It was so strange. I also had all sorts of other debilitating aches and pains that disappeared as if by magic. I wish I hadn't bothered batch cooking the weeks beforehand because I felt like a new woman the second I gave birth!

Kt1704 · 15/09/2024 17:43

@MsMajeika Wow that’s amazing to hear! I’m only coming up to 18 weeks and I have lots of pains already!!!! I keep thinking I’m not going to feel myself again until the babies (I’m having twins) are a bit older! 😂 It’s bad to say but really not enjoying being pregnant but so grateful x

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. I didn't enjoy my first one at all either. I also had diet-controlled GD so couldn't even ease my nausea with treats that I fancied!

You're nearly at the halfway line (or perhaps even past it as they're twins!) and you're doing amazingly! Keep taking the pills as long as you need them although I really hopes it eases in the 3rd tri x

Hiya, I'm pregnant with twins and have been on Xonvea since about 10 weeks (I'm almost 17 weeks now). It's really helped me with my HG but I'm wondering when you're supposed to come off it? My GP was reluctant to give me more tablets this week as "it's only meant to be taken for a set period of time" (mainly in the first trimester) and I'm a bit worried about it harming my babies. Nobody seems to be able to give me a solid answer on whether or not it's okay to keep taking - not even google! I used to be on 2 tablets a day but now I'm on 1 every second day and that seems to be working for now, although I still throw up every morning and feel slightly nauseaous at points throughout the day - it's still much better that constantly vomiting!
No other medicines have helped me as much as Xonvea, but I'm open to trying other things if it means I 100% know the babies will be safe. When were you told to stop taking it, if at all?
Would love to gear your experience with it!

Dullblue1234 · 06/01/2025 16:18

Also still on a combo of xonvea/ondansentron at 23 weeks. GP has said to stay on them if they're proving effective, there's no harm.
Especially as the xonvea is licensed for pregnancy ☺️
Last pregnancy I was still continuing to be sick at 30 weeks, and my weaning attempts have failed so far.
Just accepting my fate that this pregnancy is medicated and that's that!

wildagape · 06/01/2025 17:38

Thank you! This is such a relief to read. I'm hoping my HG will pass soon and I can come off it all together.
When I was in the hospital last week, the doctor said that if it's working for me so well, it should be okay to keep taking, which didn't give me much peace - I wanted a solid answer! Feels like not many people have heard of Xonvea in my area so they never know how to answer my questions about it
