Hi! I’m 31 and I’ve just found out I’m pregnant after years of fertility issues and not long having decided to take control and not have kids. Not only that, I’ve found out and 10 weeks so I’m fairly gone already.
I have credit card debt and we cannot survive without our 2 jobs. I can’t afford nursery.. will I be able to juggle childcare whilst working from home? Has anyone else done that? Is having children as tough as they say? I’m so anxious.

By the time your baby is nine months old, they will be entitled to 30 free hours of childcare. Would that help at all?

You cannot work from home with a child. Not only is it just not possible to do that with a baby/toddler but you would also get sacked if they found out.

As PP says you’ll get 30 hours “free” from 9 months but be aware that doesn’t actually mean free, it’s subsidised but the amount the gov gives doesn’t cover so there is still some to pay for the “free” hours.

Have you looked to see what you are entitled to SMP/Maternity Allowance?

I'd say working from home does not become possibly until school age. Even then I'd say about 5 or 6 🙈🙈

It is very scary. Similar to you had lots of fertility issues and did not think it would happen so had somewhat processed that chapter being closed, so becoming pregnant was very difficult to get my head round. You still have a good 6-7 months of your job so time to really save, plus you will have money afterwards through mat pay too. Contact your credit card providers and se eif a payment plan can be put in place and also go to see somewhat like citizens advice to see what benefits may be available. Everyone's income etc is different so Mum's net is not going to gibe you info specific to you.
I have already noticed we are saving a fair bit not going out and me just not being as bothered with buying the odd thing here and there (too tired to do anything but sleep).
How to afford things like child care is daunting and scary but as others have said you may just find it could be a tight 3 months if you return after 6months, but some childcare hours will become available.
Also see if there are family and friends who have second hand baby stuff or see about rental sites vs outright buying.
It is an adjustment when you were least expecting it and it may not be the way you envisioned having a baby but the main thing is, if you want this, you will figure it out.
