Induction tomorrow - advice?!

I am being induced tomorrow. I have an 18 month old and went into labour spontaneously with him. But this time round I've been told that, because of my age (40) and having a high BMI (No idea what it is. Long story but I was actually quite athletic until a debilitating back injury).... I need to be induced.
I am absolutely fine with this as I am already a day over my due date.
I'm just wondering what I can expect?
I had signed up to a workshop through my maternity unit however I was unable to make it due to going to A&E (another long story!).
Any words of wisdom is appreciated, any advice will be followed and just generally want to know the good, the bad and the ugly.
Thanks in advance xxxx

Have you had a sweep?

I was induced 5 months ago with my daughter, my advice would be take your own pillow, download some films/episodes of something from Netflix, take headphone, take LOTS of snacks (however many you think you might want, double it), take a little handheld fan, and just try to take everything as it comes, be prepared to be there for the long haul and then anything quicker is a bonus! Good luck! X

I was induced but I became ill from the medication so they had to take it out and I ended up in EMCS so my advice is to prepare for plans to change with very short notice and just go with the flow. The main point is that you and the baby stay safe.

I was induced with my first (14 years ago)and my last (8 months ago) my first took ages, the 24hr pessary did nothing, labour was 15hrs 35 minutes, was extremely painful contractions, they increase the amount on the drip every 30 minutes, after 2 hours i had epidural and she got stuck (because i couldn’t move she had slid around and was trying to come out sideways lol) had episiotomy and forcep delivery, my last was a much easier and nicer experience, probably because my body had already gone through labour, 1hr 29 minutes of fairly painful contractions but manageable with gas n air and she was born, the canular hurts a bit and is uncomfortable, they will need to monitor baby throughout, my dd wouldn’t stop moving so the stomach monitors didn’t keep track of her so she had a clip put on her head that was a bit painful although i don’t think its supposed to take that long, my midwife ended up having to call someone else in as she couldn’t put the clip on, my advice is take lots of snacks/sandwiches etc, the hospital will give you meals but not your OH and if you miss meal time thats it, keep active as much as possible its awkard being hooked to a machine but just swaying/rocking on the spot or on a ball is what i did, keep as calm as possible, dont look at the monitor lol you can see when you have a contraction building and it can make you panic a bit especially when the contractions get painful lol the rest of my advice would be for labour in general which you have already done lol its not much different to normal labour really just extra wires/tubes/monitors lol xx
