Positive test, but really late in the day and faint line

Advice or thoughts please? Has anyone else experienced similar?

Long story short mg period was late so I started taking pregnancy tests. In the end it was 15 days after my period was due before I got a positive test (in fact I also got a positive ovulation test because by that point I assumed I’d had a freak-skip of my period and was in the next cycle ready to try to conceive again).

On the 15th day the test was finally positive - I took two), but in both cases the blue line wasn’t dark enough to be decisive. Instructions said to wait 48 hours and try again, which means I didn’t get a proper positive result until my period was 17 days late. Which means I was already in Week 6/7 based on my LMP calculation.

Lots of Qs (sorry):
Should the faint pregnancy line be a concern? Has anyone else had examples of the positive test only coming so late in their cycle? Is it a sign of an ectopic pregnancy?
Could this suggest that my actual ovulation was later than expected and conception/gestation was later than expected? Surely not many people find out in week 7? Am I likely to get a gestational date which is really different to my LMP date?
Based on my LMP this also means that I was pregnant for aaages before I realised (if that’s even possible??) - so I was eating a bit more rare meat / soft cheeses / pate etc than I would have done if the test had come back positive sooner. Should I be worried?

Sorry for the overload of Qs - hoping someone has experienced something b similar and can share experience?
Amy xx

On the food part - definitely don't worry. The main risk with soft cheese and raw meat is food poisoning and you'd know if you had that. With pate it's the amount of vitamin A but again - even at this stage the placenta wouldn't have formed so you'll be fine.

On the dates and testing - it sounds like you maybe ovulated much later than you thought? Is that possible based on when you were BD?

I would definitely speak to your GP though - I would imagine they'll want to get a scan to rule out any other issues like ectopic (not trying to scare you - it's rare but a consideration) and also to help you date more accurately

Later ovulation than expected is definitely possible based on BD dates (and is the same conclusion is reached - although I’m coming at this very much as a newbie), it’s just so weird because everything about my cycles has been so regular up to now - so it seems a bizarre coincidence that the month I conceive is also the month that the timing of everything decided to go wonky!

I’ve actually heard back on a midwife appointment today, so will wait and see what they say.

Thank you!! xx
