New job and pregnancy

Hey,
I've just stated a new job as an ANA at my local school.
Today I have found out I am pregnant!
This is following two miscarriages so I am overjoyed but terrified at the same time.
I don't want to tell anyone but my partner about my pregnancy until we get past the 12 week scan.
The issue is I now work with some extremely violent children. Some behavioural and some due to a learning disability.
I am worried about going to my line manager as I am only a week into this job however I am worried it I don't inform them I will not have a risk assessment against some serious hazards.
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do?
Tyia

Hey @Mamashark96 a huge congratulations!

I’ve work in employment law in schools for over 10 years - you need to tell your manager. They cannot sack you or discriminate against you for being organs, but until they know you’re not protected by law.

I know it’s hard, I also had just started a new job, but once you’ve told them you will feel a lot better 🙂

Thank you for you advice I really appreciate it! It's just scary as I don't want them to think I've set out to mess them about 😩

Im in a similar situation to you. I recently started working as a teacher for a new trust in June. I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant. I have told SLT and my TA as my school has some similar challenges. You need a risk assessment in place to keep you and your baby safe. I would recommend telling SLT as soon as you feel you can do so.

Either way they will know when you got pregnant.
