Help around strep B and fertility/pregnancy

I had a d and c procedure for a missed miscarriage (I was 13 weeks but baby passed at 7). The week before this I started with what I assumed were thrush symptoms (extreme irritation and very sore pain like paper cuts) however during the procedure they did a swap test which was strep b positive. I was given antibiotics on the day to clear this but wasn’t told I had it. For 2 weeks after the procedure I had no issues and felt physically fine until week 3 where I have had intense cramps and a constant feeling of needing to wee and like a brick is sat in my pelvis. GP did a urine test and has come back as ok but told me about the strep b and gave antibiotics to clear up what they think is an infection. I am due to go back in as I didn’t have any swab test so I’m not sure how they know what to treat 3 weeks on but has anyone had anything similar?

I am concerned about it affecting future fertility if I have had this infection for 5 weeks and also what this now looks like for any future pregnancy. Google has no real information unless it’s directly linked to pregnancy so I’m just super confused/worried as to what to expect going forward - any advice/experience shared would be greatly appreciated!!

Was it a swab and urine test @TTC1265?

I was a streb b carrier in my first pregnancy, apparently its transient vaginally so shouldnt affect pregnancies unless waters break - unless it's in your urine, midwives and doctors told me antibiotics aren't required. They will treat with IV antibiotics during birth though, once waters break (which is optional of of course).

I haven't read anything re it hindering future fertility

@T2024 thank you!! So it didn’t make a difference to you pregnancy apart from antibiotics during labour?

No worries at all @TTC1265, so sorry about your loss, it must have been difficult to go through.

No difference at all, midwives were only worried if it came up in urine sample and they said that's when it needs treated - but it's so transient that it can be there one day and not the next. Although I'm not sure how it works if you had d&c, incase it's a womb infection? Sorry I'm not clued up on that side of things

And tbh I'm surprised that the strep b test isn't a standard test for all pregnancies

Ps never needed antibiotics as I had c section so baby never had any contact vaginally, so only if its not c section x

@T2024 There is currently a huge trial going on (30 hospitals or something) to see if implementing a strep b test as standard should be introduced. There are also vaccine trials underway too.

@TTC1265 in my first pregnancy, I had undiagnosed strep b. My DD1 developed sepsis ar 23hrs old and spent 2 weeks in NICU. It was a very scary time. (I add that she is a perfectly healthy 3yr old now!). As a result, for my second pregnancy, I was advised to have antibiotics through a cannula in labour, which I did. DD2 did not develop sepsis. In my trust, that meant that I couldn't have a home birth but I could have had a water birth if I wanted (I didn't, as I had preeclampsia so had some extra monitoring on delivery suite). Noone ever mentioned anything about fertility but just impressed that I must get the antibiotics in labour. I believe if your labour is too fast for antibiotics, you stay on the ward for a min of 24hrs so baby can be monitored.
