I'm contemplating number three (quietly ). Would you?

Suppose it depends with how you coped with the previous two pregnancies. I am on hyperemetic preg no. 2 and had always said that I would like a big brood- but after facing this for a second time I can't do it again . If I was made of sterner stuff I might be brave enough to face the demon for a third time but rationally speaking now, with the memory so fresh, I don't think so.

I don't think it matters how severe a case of hg you've had in the past by the way, just how you dealt with it! Good luck, how old are your other two?

They are 2 and 4, so dd1 starts school in September, and dd2 nursery at same time, so am sure will feel horribly broody.

Amazing how you forget the sickness really, given how it just takes away months of your life. Hope you are nearly there with yours

Mine are 3 & 6 & I was hospitalised with the 2nd due to hyperemisis. It wasn't severe enough for hospital with dd & as she was my first I was able to spend the 9months in bed with a bucket.

With ds I spent so long in hosp she was shipped from pillar to post.

No, I don't think I would like to do it again. Not only can I not cope with the sickness, it would mean messing 2 children about whilst I either threw up every 2 minutes at home, or me in hospital hooked to a drip like last time

And I will never forget the sickness.. it is the most horrendous thing I have ever went through in my life, much worse than the labours!!

Only by accident - but now she is here I am so glad to have her . It was horrendous though.

Ah the broodiness- yes that would be a big factor for sure! And when your two tinies go off to school & nursery I can certainly understand how another baby would be on your mind

You're right about forgetting the sickness. DS wasn't planned, so I didn't feel real broodiness before he was conceived. (Although we were delighted when I found out I was pregnant). He's 3.5 now and I would have liked another sooner but I think it has taken dh this long to be able to face it again, knowing that in all likelihood I would be in hospital for a long stretch and he would be a "single dad" for a while. He has found it very hard and I think that he was actually really scared of me being so poorly again and not being able to do anything about it.

With this baby (29 weeks yay! Went back to work on Monday after being off with hg since November) - it actually came as a bit of a surprise to me how all encompassing the need to get pregnant was! And now I think about it, how much I stuck my fingers in my ears and said lalalalalala when dh quietly mentioned that things might be a bit tricky if I got hyperemesis again- I literally just dismissed it and thought "oh it couldn't have been that bad" as if I'd never been there the first time round such was my desire for this little thing.

What does your dp think?
