6 weeks pregnant and feeling crap!

I am 6 weeks pregnant and I am feeling rubbish every day! I feel so sick and exhausted and I’m so bloated by the end of the day it’s so uncomfortable. I feel like this is going to go on for so long but I’m really struggling. I keep reminding myself that I feel this way because of this amazing little thing inside of me but it’s hard going. Does anyone else feel like this? Any tips to help me feel any more energetic or less sick?
I only want savoury food too so I’m trying to snack when I feel sick on something savoury but it doesn’t help for long.

Mine are older now but I found 6-10 weeks really hard going, never suffered with morning sickness just all day nausea which was lovely!

I just snacked constantly and slept as much as I could, as soon as I got home from work my pj's would be on and I'd sit and not do much. The house got tidied when I had a small bit of energy or when dh looked around and realised it was a mess!

Just look after yourself and rest as much as you can, even if it means getting into bed at 7pm. Your body is doing a huge important thing at the moment so just go with it and do as little as you can get away with!

I only wanted savoury foods and practically lived on Mini Cheddars for those 4 weeks, can't stand them now!

Oh and congratulations!

Yes I absolutely felt like this and it hit me hard at 6 weeks! The best thing to do is eat constantly, even if you don’t feel like it. Just little and often is fine, beige foods were my saviour, toast and biscuits! 11 weeks now and coming out the other side which is a nice change. Don’t be hard on yourself and take all the rest you need.

Just know that you're not alone!

6-10 weeks is the hardest time for a lot of women when it comes to sickness. The majority then get a reprieve when the placenta takes over from the yolk sac at 10 weeks.

All you can do in that time is manage it as best you can. You learn quickly what snacks you can have and what to definitely avoid. Little and often is the key, no big meals, don't worry too much about nutrition as something is better than nothing, rest, stay hydrated, and just keep focusing on the big picture.

If you find it debilitating, you can ask your GP for anti sickness medication. Unfortunately there is a condition which some women have which means they suffer from extreme sickness for their entire pregnancy, thankfully it is not common.

Thank you, it really is about trying to stay positive and using mind over matter isn’t it!
feeling rubbish as well as feeling so anxious that everything’s going to be okay is so hard but we just have to crack on don’t we. Thank you for the reassurance xx

I'm 11 weeks and I'm still feeling absolutely awful! Sorry to say 😂 every woman is different though and usually I've heard when the placenta kicks in 10-12 weeks it eases the symptoms. Still waiting for that myself but you're not alone! It'll all be so worth it xx

I was a bit like this my second pregnancy, I savoury snacked to soak up the nausea, unfortunately I couldn’t rest as I had a toddler already but otherwise I’d recommend that, I was bone tired, I actually couldn’t physically move around the house with my toddler it was so bad.
and this sounds silly but try to remind yourself this isn’t a normal feeling, I got to a point where I couldn’t remember if this was just a normal way to feel and it gets a bit depressing when you forget it’s temporary.
thankfully this passed in second trimester so fingers crossed it doesn’t last longer.
