i assume by ‘zero gin’ you mean zero alcohol? In which case yes, why wouldn’t it be ok?

Nmcl40 · 30/08/2024 22:04

I read that some of these drinks have a tiny amount of alcohol in them so recommended not to drink it didn’t mention about zero gin and yes non alcoholic

Orange juice has a tiny amount of alcohol in it too. It’s fine.

I had 0% pink gin while I was pregnant with no ill effects. Go for it and enjoy your pregnancy!

So do lots of things you will eat and drink - not 0% drinks though. That will be 0% or it would be false advertising. Low alcohol will have some though!

If it's stated on the label as "alcohol free" or "0.0%" then it is actually completely alcohol free and is fine for pregnancy. I've been living on alcohol free gin all year! Anything that's "dealcoholised" will have a small amount of alcohol in it, like 0.3-0.5% ABV so better to avoid those (more likely to be wine than spirits).

As someone else wrote above, orange juice has similar alcohol content.
low alcohol stuff is so low content that it would barely be in your blood stream, never mind the babies. Drink what you want and don’t worry about it OP!

Just to say my husband was on really strong anti biotics and was told no alcohol. We were going on a night out with friends so he drank no alcohol lager. He was violently sick for 14 hours.

Nmcl40 · 31/08/2024 09:35

I’ve avoided low alcohol beers as they normally only have 0.3 or 0.5 but have only either drank 7up or the non alcohol gin

ignore This, 0.5% is fine. Even one glass of normal wine is fine, there is no proper evidence that occasional alcohol has any negative effects. Read “Expecting Better.

CluelessInLondon · 31/08/2024 22:33

@Peonies12 I have read Expecting Better, and I'm fully aware (and was before I read it) that occasional alcoholic drinks are okay in pregnancy. But if the OP is sufficiently worried to be asking whether alcohol free spirits are okay, then it makes sense to avoid any drinks with an ABV stated on the label and stick to the stuff that is explicitly alcohol free.
