Postpartum pads that don't irritate?

I'm due my second soon and had an episiotomy and vacuum with my first, since having him I'm super sensitive down there but post-birth I couldn't tolerate pads or those nappy pants, I found they really irritated my stitches and weren't breathable... I used a few different brands and couldn't get on with any...

I used period pants but the smell and washing was a lot in the few weeks post-birth! Any recommendations for possibly organic pads that might be better?

Natra care maternity pads were super comfy, made of organic cotton. I didn't have any issues with them and had an episiotomy.

Same here.

I got disposable maternity knickers from amazon with the built in pads, they were great.
Looking back, I think they were actually marketed as incontinence knickers but I was recommended them for postpartum (possibly on here).

Boots organic cotton ones were good for me

Not a recommendation for brand, but i found the long thin pads were awful for my stitches - they seemed to always shift about and catch the knot.

I much preferred the pads with the very wide back end. You need to wear them with big Granny pants but I found they didn't irritate my stitches at all.

Should also say I used Lilets brand, but I imagine you may have tried them.

I find anything that has a plasticky top layer really irritates me post-birth so I always use these - they’re super cheap (good as you’ll go through loads) and about the thickness of a mattress which is also brill if you’re a bit bruised down there!

Yep, I used these both times and recommend them to everyone!

What did you use? I had an episiotomy and a 3rd degree tear and found lilets maternity pads to be the best

biscuitcat · 30/08/2024 14:13

Another advocate for Natracare ones, they're so soft!

Just had a gynea procedure and needed pads and use Lilets, they were really soft ,wings and massive at the back so you'll need Bridget Jones knickers. I have very sensitive skin and they didn't irritate at all, I got them from Amazon.

Thanks so much for the recommendations, the last time I used Tena pants, the Abena maternity pants and the ones you get in the hospital and honestly couldn't even sit down with them.

I'm not going to pretend I don't wear big granny knickers all the time anyway 😅

I think the disposable knickers I used were a brand called silhouette. I had a section so not quite the same but they were very comfortable around my wound.

Boots organic ones (brown packaging) were like sitting on a cloud compared to the previous ones I'd used ...and randomly was allergic to post birth 🙃
