Hi

I was wondering if there are any mums who were pregnant over 40 and had obstetric cholestasis.
I have had it with my 2 pervious children. The 2nd pregnancy it got quite bad and during labour I had a large bleed (just under 2 litres) not sure if it was because of the cholestasis but I'm scared being almost 10 years older that the problem could be worse and I won't survive, I still have a child under 10
This pregnancy was unexpected.
Is there anyone who has been over 40 with this condition? How did things go for you

Thanks

There is a high chance of cholestasis in further pregnancies if you've had it with one, that along with your age puts you at extremely high risk of not only miscarriage but also a stillbirth. I wouldn't risk my life and my children being without a mother if it were me.

This isn't strictly true. We know now that only women with cholestasis with very high bile acid levels are at increased risk of stillbirth. The majority of women with cholestasis have a stillbirth risk similar to that in the background population. OP, if you develop cholestasis you will receive close monitoring.

@Amaze41 Hi, just wondering how you got on? Did you develop cholestasis in the end? I'm worried too as I had it with my daughter but not my son who I had after her. I think this is a girl again though and I'm nearly 40 so worrying about developing it again.
