5 weeks and nearly no symptoms, time to worry?

Hi all. I'm 5 + 4 and still waiting for the nausea and food aversions I experienced with my first, but so far nothing apart from slightly sore breasts. I'm terrified that after a loss in late April, this lack of symptoms is indicative of another loss. If you also had next to no symptoms I would be so very grateful to hear from you.

Thanks all.

Hi.OP,

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I have only ever had sore boobs at the very beginning.

First pregnancy I had no other symptoms at all until about 7 weeks then the sickness/nausea, smell sensitivity, food aversions, tiredness etc all hit at once. (She's now 4)

This pregnancy (currently 9+4), I had no other symptoms till 5.5-6 weeks. Nausea and sickness has been much worse this time round, extreme tiredness, headaches, extreme thirst, dizzy spells..... not so much with the food aversions or smells (yet).

My mum had 4 kids and had hardly any symptoms, never had any sickness etc in any of her pregnancies (as she keeps telling me)

I'm having this at the moment currently 6 weeks, all others I had nausea with so I'm panicking but have a scan next week so will let you know how it goes, I know it can be normal though every pregnancy is different I had a loss and had major sickness but still miscarried so fingers crossed all is ok 🤞

The pregnancy I had the most symptoms in is the one I lost at 14 weeks. My two successful pregnancies I didn't have symptoms that early x

My last 2 pregnancies I wasnt great at tracking my periods so I didnt know until I got symptoms and then tested. This time round we planned, so I had been tracking my periods and knew I was late, so found out between 4&5 weeks, so it has been strange waiting for the symptoms to start this time. I'm now 7 weeks and my nausea is just starting to kick in, otherwise all I have had is really sore breasts.

I didn’t have any real symptoms other than being ever so slightly more tired until week 27….im now 36+1 and have had projectile reflux for 9 weeks 🤣

With both of my pregnancies that went past the first tri (my DS and I’m currently pregnant with DC2. Had a mmc between these two), the sickness didn’t show up until just before the 6 week mark. Then it quickly ramped up to awful! I don’t think I really had any other symptoms early on either.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I'd only worry if you bleed.

Symptoms were intermittent with my 5 pregnancies (not all to term). There really wasn't any common indicators of whether it was going to be successful or not except for bleeding!

Thank you all! It's just SO different to my first successful pregnancy. I think if I hadn't have had the loss at the end of April I wouldn't be this anxious but I'm symptom spotting and tracking line progression like a mad woman. Thank you for sharing your experiences, I'll try to calm down a bit 😊

I know it's easier said than done but you just have to try not to obsess, the anxiety doesn't help anything. Symptoms or lack of them don't appear to have much correlation to whether a pregnancy will be successful or not so it's really not worth stressing over.
I'm on my second pregnancy too and finding it very different to my first, also get massive anxiety before every scan which i didn't before....maybe because I'm over 40 now so aware there are a lot more risks.
I took one test after missing a period and refused to take any more as I know for a fact I would be obsessing over line progression. I'm trying to have some control over the crazy.
Had scans at 6+2, 8+2, next one at 10+2. All fine so far but doesn't stop the anxiety.

Hi OP, I was you exactly earlier this year. Successful 1st pregnancy where I had severe sickness early on, then a loss, and then a 3rd pregnancy where I had no sickness early on. The lack of sickness really freaked me out, but I'm happy to say that I'm now 8 months into a very healthy pregnancy. (Oh and FWIW I eventually developed nausea and vomiting but it didn't get bad until the 13 week mark this time, which is quite unusual!). But it goes to show that every pregnancy really is so different. I also posted a thread at the time and had very lots of very helpful and reassuring replies to the same effect. Best of luck this time around!

Just wanted to update, now nearly 8 weeks and feel like total shit 😂 nausea and sickness is kicking my arse, pregnancy with a toddler is certainly a test. I should have enjoyed the simplicity of 5 weeks whilst I had it!

I’m currently 6+3wks and have had very few symptoms which have fluctuated a lot. Started out with only breast pain (it would disappear completely some days and currently it’s been gone for the past 3 days) but since 2 nights ago I’ve had nausea triggered by strong smells. On some days I feel completely normal and it freaks me out! I’m the same as you and have had losses before so it makes me twice as anxious and my first appointment is still 17 days away! Then even longer until the first scan…it feels like a lifetime of waiting

juliaxxl80 · 13/09/2024 17:28

I had a very easy pregnancy- no nausea, could eat all the food, no cravings etc. My child is 10 now

Haha! Good to hear all going well but, yes, so annoying that anxiety doesn't let us enjoy the time when we don't feel like crap!
