Any experiences from people that can reassure me? 😬

My first was an emergency c section after 3 days of labour which failed to progress so the whole thing traumatised me a little. My second was an elected c section and the operation itself was fantastic from what I remember, everybody was so kind. Went in at 7am and had him at 10am.

It was the aftercare after my second which shocked me. Nobody helped me get out of bed to walk around my room (had to have catheter in for 24 hours due to something or the other with my bladder) couldn’t move to get baby, fresh pads etc and just bled all over the bed. Had to constantly ask for pain meds, asked if I could be wheeled out as I was honestly in way more pain second time around and was genuinely laughed at.

Had a bit of a breakdown at one point over the care and cried in front of one midwife who then proceeded to treat me even worse. It was horrific. I had the catheter out at 10am the following day, my bloods were fine, didn’t need any stomach injections to take home or iron tablets as didn’t lose massive amounts of blood and they didn’t discharge me until 10pm. Just kept palming me off to other people constantly over and over again.

Unfortunately I’m at the same hospital with my third so not filled with much confidence. But just want experiences from people really especially if you’ve had multiple c sections?

Are you at the same hospital as me? 🤣

I don't have any words of advice because I also have to have a third c section and empathise because the treatment on the post natal ward was an abomination. Unfortunately sub standard post natal care seems to be the norm whether you have a vaginal or c section delivery. Are partners allowed to stay over on the ward so you can have some help?

This sounds like what happened to me to, I was left with out Any pain killers had to keep buzzing and no would come when they finnaly did all they would give was paracetamol, no help with picking the baby up or anything it was horrendous, I’m due another C-section in a couple of weeks and I’m dreading it to x

If your not happy at any point have a chat first with your medical team and or senior nurse. If you're breastfeeding they don't want to give you big painkillers because they drug your baby too and that can be hard. But warm cup of tea and a discussion better than being mean. It's genuinely hard to move around at first but essential that you try to avoid dvt and pulmonary emboli which are real risks to new mums. A supportive/assertive partner or birth partner can really help, they need to be well informed. Don't be afraid but be proactive. Make sure everything that worries you is discussed with your midwife and your wishes acounted for in your birth plan. If you're going for an elective section say so from the start and stick to your guns especially if you've had a tough time in the past. I wish you every bit of luck with it kind regards and all the best.

I had my 3rd section last year and honestly recovered the best from all 3.
The first night in hospital was difficult and I declined morphine as it made me very sick after my first 2 sections, so the pain was bad at times, but it was all ok in the end.
Just FYI I was given clexane injections due to this being my 3rd pregnancy and having a section so I was scored higher on the risk sheet, so I would expect to be sent home with some injections to self administer for a few weeks.

Is there anyone that can come in and help you or advocate for you such as chasing up your pain meds? Or bring food if you need it?

Bring your own paracodol and ibuprofen the time I had to wait for these was cruel
