Miscarriage anxiety

I’m nearly 5 weeks but anxiety is setting in about miscarriage. I’m having like very light brown and watery discharge combined with creamy discharge. I had phoned midwife. They have said that is very normal and if it’s heavy bleeding then I should come in. It hasn’t got to that stage yet. I keep doing pregnancy tests to be sure and they are getting slightly weaker but it could be due to drinking loads also. They are all very positive tests. I have lower back pain and sore breasts also with nausea in the mornings

Hey I just wanted to tell you about my experiences. I’ve had two previous miscarriages, one started with pink spotting and one started with heavy bleeding straight away. This is my third pregnant and I’ve made it to over 10 weeks (furtherest I’ve ever made it) and between weeks 4-6.5 I had on and off spotting and was absolutely convinced I was having another miscarriage. The anxiety I’ve had has been unreal and unmanageable. I went for a private scan today and got to see my baby waving their arms and legs about as well as hear a really strong heart beat. Some miscarriages can start with spotting however that is not always the case, please keep a positive mind set. The nurses at the early pregnancy unit told me bleeding during pregnancy can be really common xx

MC anxiety is a real thing - I'm older (41) and have myself tied up in statistics and the increased risks/odds of MC.
I'm almost 9 weeks now and I had scans at 6w2d and 8w2d, everything fine at both but any reassurance lasted about an hour max before the extreme anxiety hits again until the next scan.
I feel panicked every time I go to the bathroom 'just in case', I'm worried about telling people as I'm so convinced something is going to go wrong. I'm overanalysing every symptom or lack of!
I don't remember being this bad with my first born...... it's really sucking the joy out of pregnancy

From what you describe, it sounds absolutely normal. Naturally you're going to be conscious of every change in your body, and some changes will cause worry, but you just have to see how your pregnancy progresses. I've had 4 miscarriages, and my 5th pregnancy was successful. Every pregnancy was different. I experienced spotting/light bleeding with my 5th/latest pregnancy and was extremely anxious but in that pregnancy it was ok, and in previous ones I had no warning such as spotting/lighting bleeding, until the worst happened. So spotting/light bleeding isn't always a sign of bad things to come.
It's so hard to ease your anxiety in pregnancy, after loss, but just know you're doing everything right by contacting your midwife when concerned.
The tests definitely show a fainter line when hydrated and depending on the time of the day you do them. And the symptoms you're experiencing are also normal early pregnancy symptoms. Please try find some joy in your pregnancy, between all of the moments of worry. 💕
If the EPU doesn't need to see you, why not book a private early pregnancy scan in a couple of weeks or so, to hopefully get some reassurance x

Thank you. It’s my first ever time being pregnant. I’m 33. I’ve literally told no one yet as it’s so early and I don’t want to jinx it. It’s all new to me. Fingers crossed for you!! We were thinking of booking a reassurance scan as I don’t think they will need to see me any sooner as I’ve good health and under 35.

I always found it best to almost forget about it and pretend I wasn’t pregnant as much as possible in the early weeks and keep busy to forget about it.

if you get a reassurance (private) scan, try to wait until 9 weeks as the risk of mc drops a lot from then so if all looks good then you can relax more.

I may have to tell work soon as it requires line distance travel at times as in driving and some lifting so I don’t want to put myself at risk
