Hi all,

Had a growth scan on the weekend and was told little one is back to back at the moment.
i’m 39+2 so not far off! I was feeling relatively positive about birth despite a horrific labour with my first daughter, however now feel terrified again in case she doesn’t shift into the right position.
just posting to hear some advice/reassurance/positive experiences with this please! :)

TIA

My last baby was back to back. No one told me until I was in labour. No probs really, wasn't any different from the other 3 who were all head down the right way. Pain got serious at 3pm, went to delivery suite and she was Christmas day baby born at 4.45pm x

My first was back to back - I didn't know until I was in labour. No real issues, if I was to go through it again I'd try not to be on my back.

My first was back to back didn't know until labour, contractions were all in my back but as first baby I knew no different and they were managable. My labour did end up in emergency CS but wasn't anything to do with DS being back to back.

I was told similar at my last midwife appointment and it made me feel apprehensive after doing lots of positive birth preparation. I started doing some exercises that I found online - a website called Spinning Babies. I just used their free info and when I went into labour my baby was back in the correct position so maybe it helped.

Forward-leaning Inversion

Forward-leaning Inversion - Technique for Easier Birth - Spinning Babies

Create room in the lower uterus. Baby will use that space with gravity to snuggle into a more ideal position for birth. Help a breech baby turn head down.

I had 2 back to back. Don't be afraid to move around during labour. Even if they have you on a monitor. They threatened me with a csection when ds was appearing stressed. I moved to the other side and his hb sorted itself out.

My first was back to back. Obviously I've nothing to compare it too but found labour fine. I was lucky I was able to do a water birth and found the movement really helpful along with wonderful gas and air.

Get on your hands and knees. Lean forwards over a kitchen work top or something similar. Lie on your left side. Read up about optimal Fetal positioning. Although this might all be a bit too late if the head is deeply engaged already....

I had my last baby back to back and tbh all I noticed was alot of pain in my back rather than my front but I was induced with my first two so I guess anything would feel like a walk in park after that x
