A little sister for your existing daughter, or a little brother?

Light hearted as I know sibling bond all boils down to family dynamics and personality in the end, but I'm wondering if anyone could share their experience of the bond between sisters and the bond between a big sister/little brother?

I am pregnant and DD will be 23 months on baby's due date. I'm excited to find out the gender and honestly don't mind either way, but feel as though two girls would be easier.

I always wanted a little sister as I grew up as an only child, so in some ways I have romanticised the relationship between sisters I think (plus we have kept all of DDs clothes just in case 😂)

I will say sister but only because I’ve just found out we are having another girl- my dd1 will be almost 3 when she arrives 💕 would have been just as happy with a boy but since it’s a girl- I’m team sisters 💪

I read somewhere that the happiest of families tend to have two girls.

It's nice to have one of each though I suppose.

But mainly just a very healthy happy baby.

I have 2 girls and it's lovely. But I have a brother 18 months younger than me and we were best friends growing up. So I don't think it really matters

OP honestly don't romanticise the relationships between sisters! Didn't have a close bond with my sister.

I'll have a similar age gap and have a DD already, we've opted not to find out the sex of this baby (didn't find out with DD either).

Thanks guys, with my first I thought we'd only ever have one baby and I so badly wanted a little girl (terrible of me I know). She was IVF and this baby is a surprise second addition. I am just genuinely thrilled that she will get a sibling, boy or girl. I just can't wait to find out now so I can start to picture life 😂

This is lovely to hear, I just do to know boys, I think I'm a bit scared to be a boy mum!

I've got 2, first is a boy. We didn't find out the sex either times and i think because I already had a boy another one would be easier, although I couldn't of card less either way. Any way we ended up with a little girl and her brother adores her 🥰

I have 2 DDs. DD1 was 3.5 when DD2 was born. Baby is now 9 months.

They absolutely love each other. The baby laughs constantly at DD1 and her little face lights up when she sees her. It's lovely. The oldest loves being a big sister and is very caring towards her generally.

That said, there is 3 years between myself and my sister and we didn't really get on as children but have very different personalities as adults x

I have one brother 18 months younger and two sisters, 4.5 and 8 years younger. I love them all! I was closer to my brother when I was little because of the age gap but now as adults am really good friends with all of them. Girls and boys can be really good buddies so I'm sure they'll appreciate each other either way 🙂
