I'd have thought there were more likely to be health risks to you than to the baby, but I haven't any evidence to hand.

What does your midwife think?

pandapanda · 16/04/2008 09:45

You are more likely to have a prolapse if your pregnancies are close together. Your general state of health may be lower due to the first 3 babies sucking all the nutrition out of your body.

MrsBadger · 16/04/2008 09:53

... and of course with 4 under 4 you will be knackered.

tasha22 · 16/04/2008 09:54

i havent seen the midwife yet as im only 6 weeks. ive never heard of prolapse

i think it will b fine as long as u r healthy. U probly wouldnt have been able to get pregnant if your body couldnt cope. My kid were born 11months apart and they r fine and healthy. only thing stopping me from having another is lack of money/space. Oh and DP saying he will emigrate if i get pregnant agin...lol

I'm very envious - this was my plan but unfortunately infertility and miscarriage scuppered my dreams .

My mum had 4 babies in three years (my little brothers were twins) and she loved it! She did end up with HBP after the twins, but think that was more to do with twin pg than 3rd pg.

Have fun and enjoy!

I have a 3 yr old, 2 yr old and a 1 yr old with our 4th boy due on July 4th.

We are very busy but I wouldn't change it for anything!

largeginandtonic · 16/04/2008 10:56

Only for your sanity love

It is great fun and lots of hard work but very worth it. I did 2 in a year (ok i cheated it was twins) 3 in 2 years, 4 in 4, 5 in 6 and now have 6. The twins are 9.

I find a special shelf in the bathroom for the wine as you tackle that nightmare slot in the evening is magic.

tasha22 · 16/04/2008 16:39

splodgesmum-sorry to hear that maybe you will have better luck soon?

lol ill keep that in mind largeginandtonic.

i havent even thought about the possibility of twins. oh i hope i dont lol ill be signing myself in.

my last lo was born prem and with a cleft lip and palate so hopefully this one isok and comes late!

Um the main risk is probably total exhaustion...

cluckyagain · 16/04/2008 16:44

I have a vague recollectionn of reduction of calcium in bones with pregnancy, increased if lots of babies close together. Once born, should try to take weight bearing exercise (with healthy diet!)to increase calcium deposits and avoid osteoporosis. Having said that I may well have imagined it!!

splodgesmum · 16/04/2008 19:48

tasha, sorry should have explained I am now 30 weeks pregnant, but don't think i'll be able to have 4 kids anymore cos we won't be able to afford the treatment - plus it's taken me 5 years to get this far and I'm nearly 36 so it would be a bit of a stretch to fit another 3 in during the next 3 or 4 years!

I haven't entirely given up hope though - twins and another singleton and I have my four kids!

Ever the optimist!

(P.S. my dh looks slightly green when I mention this scenario to him - £15k just to conceive 3 children before we get onto feeding, clothing, etc!)
