Hey so I met with my consultant today and he's said I need a cervical scan when I'm 18 weeks due to me having lletz treatment on march 13millimeters was removed. He's said I may or may not need a stitch. Had anyone been in this position monsoon after lletz and been fine?. This pregnancy seems to have many bumps in the road I have my test of cure booked for the 9th September and consultation said it's absolutely necessary and that it will not do the pregnancy any harm. Then the cervical scans, plus currently waiting to see if I have immunity to slapped cheek and my daughter had it last week 😞 it's been worrying after worrying and it's stopping me enjoying this pregnancy which will be my last so really want to enjoy every moment. Really only looking for positive outcomes please xx

sorry to hear your pregnancy has been worrying for you.
a cervical scan in itself isn’t worrying (obviously it’s a bit weird/different to usual).
I had a full term pregnancy after Lletz procedure (they didn’t highlight it as a risk so wasn’t scanned - it was 15 years ago so process may have changed).

I had a stitch with my third pregnancy as my second baby was early but it was a planned stitch at 16 weeks. It was carried out under epidural and I went home the next day.

the stitch itself was fine - I didn’t feel it day to day. The stitch did its job as I was 2cm dilated when they took it out so I feel it was positive to have the stitch.

I had regular scans up to 28 weeks I think.

It was removed at 36 weeks under epidural again and baby came at 41 weeks - natural home birth.

I have a friend who they monitored and put the stitch in later and her pregnancy was fine (as far as I know) and went to term.

I know it’s stressful and having a Consultant led pregnancy is not ideal but it’s honestly positive that they are monitoring you.

There will be lots of people who didn’t need a stitch but I just wanted to share that having a stitch, while it feels invasive and not necessarily pleasant they are doable and obviously help to ensure a positive outcome.

I hope you’ve found this helpful.

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy - try to enjoy it. I hope you have good support around you.

xx

Hello, congratulations! I fell pregnant nine months after Lletz, had 10mm removed I think. I was scanned from 21 weeks, my cervix did shorten from 3.4 to 2.4 in a week, so I was put on progesterone and seen weekly by the consultant because I'd already had a small leak from my hind waters so he felt a stitch at that stage would be risky for me at 23 weeks as could have caused the membranes to rupture, they prefer to do the stitch earlier. He signed me off at 31 weeks for the rest of my pregnancy as cervix was soft and she was fully engaged, mostly bed rest until 36 weeks. Stopped the progesterone, started to dilate once I stoped it, but didn't go into labour until 40+5. Cervical scans were weekly initially and then bi weekly, they didn't cause any issues.
