How long were you in hospital after a c section?

I had a c section in 2020 but I also had preeclampsia which meant a longer stay. I have another c section booked in October. All things being uncomplicated, how quickly could you go home? I found the post natal ward hell last time so would be keen to leave as soon as I'm well. I'm assuming anything between 1-3 days?

Emergency c-section both times. DC1 I was told I could go home just over 24 hours post birth albeit took a few hours to get the paperwork sorted so I was there a bit longer waiting for that (having spent 26 hours there in labour waiting for a bed to be available before it became apparent I'd need a c-section I was desperate to leave). DC2 they were happy to discharge me 24 hours later but I wanted to stay longer for breastfeeding support so I stayed an extra night. Both times they wanted me to pass x amount of urine (can't remember how much, they gave me one of those cardboard bowls to wee into) and once I'd done that they were happy to discharge me. 1 day is def possible if it goes smoothly. Good luck x

emcs 4pm Monday, I was medically discharged 1pm next day, though baby was in nicu so I moved to be in a parents room on the unit so I was still on-site

Emergency with pre-eclampsia. Had him at 2am Saturday. Discharged 4pm Monday. They needed to monitor baby's blood sugars as I'd been on labetalol, and wanted to make sure my BP didn't go wonky postnatally.

Thanks everyone. Looks like 1-2 days in "normal" cases then. I had to stay in for 5 days as my blood pressure wasn't stable but apparently that's standard practice for my hospital. Also I had so much fluid retention they couldn't remove the catheter for a couple of days as the box it was attached to was filling up so quickly. Ds was born at 34 weeks and the preeclampsia was severe. I was desperate to leave. Ds was allowed to come home with me but we were readmitted for a couple of days due I feeding issues.
