Glastonbury while pregnant

This is my first pregnancy and we have tickets for Glastonbury. I am still keen to go but dh is not so sure! Does anyone have any experience of festivals while pregnant? I'll be about 20 wks by the way.

I was 17 weeks pregnant at the VERY hot Glastonbury 2010. It was my first festival! Worst thing was loo smell making me constantly wretch so we camped near the proper flushing loo's. At the main stage there is a big tree near the back on a slight hill. You'll be fine watching sets from here- still part of the festival but not moshing at the front! Tree will also provide shade. I found everyone to be very friendly/chilled out and loved it. It was sooooo hot the year we went, we had to sleep half out of our tent and it was often difficult to find shade. I would still do it again though, It created so many special memories. When we were there we met a lady who was heavily pregnant- left to give birth and returned the next day with a newborn. Amazing!

Having kids needn't be the end of your festival-going days either. I don't think I could handle Glastonbury while pregnant but I will definitely be taking my baby to some smaller festivals next summer.

My parents took me and my sisters to festivals throughout our childhood, we loved it. Most are great fun for kids, and loads are very family friendly these days. I even know someone who was actually born on site at Glastonbury, under the oak tree to the left of the stone circle!

I say do it! Yes, Glastonbury's a massive site and there's tonnes of chaos there, but it's also brilliantly set up so as Blondieminx suggested you can camp in the family field... I admittedly have never been to Glastonbury when pregnant but remember seeing pregnant yoga sessions and other nice relaxing things to do in the healing fields.
There's also a very well equipped medical tent onsite and if any emergencies there are always wardens who can help you get into a car and wherever you need to go.
Finally -- you could always try tracking down this lady to see what she says :)

I've got tickets for Glasto and I'll be just over 20 weeks- I'm not going because Glasto really is full on. I would be there with my whole family and I've been for many years but it really is a massive festival.

If it is muddy I'd be really worried about slipping over... Ive done it many a time and with a bump I really dont think its safe. Walking in mud is hard and people knock into me a lot (although.. Im 5'1 so this may be a height issue!)

Pretty gutted though- theres always next year- its a super family friendly place so would happily go with baby (as my mum did with all three of my siblings and myself)

nexus if it's wet I'll probably give it a miss but if it's dry I can find somewhere to chill and absorb the vibe x

Wow I'm so glad I found this site....I will be 36 weeks + 2 days pregnant when Glastonbury comes around. And I can't wait borrowed my mum and dads motor home so will be in comfort. I'm glad to hear other soon to be mums doing it as I was a little worried when looked back at old videos and remembered the size! Obv going to take it easy and get bf to carry a chair around for me. Hope you all enjoy glasto, hoping for a excellent line up! X

Hi, nice to find recent posts on this subject! I'll be 30 wks pg for Glastonbury and I've decided to go for it!!! Argh slightly nervous but as long as it doesn't rain I'll be there :) I don't want to risk slipping over. I've taken on board all the tips above and def can't wait to experience a different kind of glasto with a more chilled out vibe this time round. Are the Radical Midwifes there this year? I've heard they do casts of your belly! ha

A friend of mine managed to get into the disabled camping area whilst pregnant and had a great time with all the very clean flushing loos and extra space etc.

Might be worth finding out if that's an option?

I wouldn't! I loathe Glastonbury though, and having been several times find it an experience akin to shopping in Oxford street at rush hour, but or four days, with no bed and no decent loos.

I went to latitude when 4 months Pg with ds tough, and that was fun. The toilets aren't as bad as Glastonbury and its smaller, so less walking about.

If you do go: second the earplugs / pee receptacle / air bed thing and would add that you are sure you bring antibacterial hand gel and only eat food that is piping hot(preferably fried) if you are eating from stalls. All the caterers are using the same hygiene facilities you are... Nuff said.

Keep an eye out for my very brave 38 weeks pregnant friend who's also going!

Hi! Watching for tips as I'm planning to go to v Festival at 7 months.

We camp in the disabled bit and look after friends so not too worried about that side. We already use proper blow up beds and duvets.

I'm just more worried in case its too muddy and slippy!!
