I have had a pretty horrific week whereby a private scan told me the baby had no heartbeat and measured at 7+1, EPU next day said they had measured a chorionic bump not the baby but baby measured 6+1 that was last Friday. Today had a further scan and baby had grown totally in line with a week growth and put it as 7+1 yolk sac normal and they said everything looks reassuring and baby is doing everything what it should be doing at this time. I also noticed one of the measurements came up as 7+4 but they settled at 7+1.

Here is my worry where I need some reassurance or straight talk.

we DTD twice on Wednesday 26th June last period was June 12th but I have irregular periods. I got a peak on ovulation tests on Thursday 27th June and hoping I ovulated closer to the 48 hour mark. I got my 1st very whiff of a line on 7th July hoping that to be a very early BFP around 8 DPO. Have worked out that really I should be around 7+4/5/6 rather than 7+1. Does implantation make a difference to the measurements if it was a late implantation?

I have some too much googling and many say there dates were off then corrected at 12 weeks and others say it’s typical chromosome problems and that measuring behind will lead to MC.

I have got myself in such a tizz and the hospital didn’t feel what I was saying is a problem. Sorry for this long very over complicated thread. X

I wouldn’t worry as it’s only a couple of days difference and everything is so tiny at this stage it is difficult to get the measurement spot on. Also, you had a week’s growth which is very reassuring!

When I was 6 weeks pregnant, I had a scan and measured 5+2. This wasn’t concerning but at my following scan 2 weeks later, I only measured 5+5 so there was limited growth in 2 weeks. This ended up being a molar pregnancy. I’m saying this because it’s more important that there’s growth between scans and a couple of days difference from your own dates really won’t matter.

Sorry that sounds stressful. but really dont worry about dates, it's only estimated from your last period, and implantation can happen within a window of several days. Everyone I know had their due date changed at 12 week scan. And the measurements at 7 weeks are so tiny, it's really not definitive. Stop Googling!

None of my pregnancies have ever dated exactly what I thought. Usually a week out roughly. Though my due date is usually a week earlier than I expect which doesn't even make sense when I've tracked ovulation etc. I've had two healthy babies and one mc. Your dates are nothing to worry about x

@Joleyjojo I had my 6 week scan with my ivf clinic on Tuesday, I was 6+4. The measurement said 6+3 and I said “does that mean the baby is a day behind?” She then said “no it’s the fact that the baby is so small it’s hard to get a true accurate measurement. I can see by looking at your scan that your baby is where it needs to be at this stage” she then proceeded to move the tv wand and show me how she measures the baby and each time the measurement was different!! If they can see the baby and it’s growing and heart beating then everything is fine hunny, don’t google anything else and find some distractions xxx

I was measuring 10 days behind at an early scan and they said my dates must have been off. That was impossible as I had only DTD on this one date. However, at my 12 week scan our baby measured the correct dates.

My advice move away from goggle ..

Baby is growing at this stage … don’t worry about dates .. you will tie yourself up in knots ..

hold onto the good news

Apparently it's very common to measure +/- up to 5 days either way at this stage, for some people it's more and everything is absolutely fine...... you're talking fractions of a millimetre at this stage.

It normally all corrects itself by the 12 week scan

The dates don’t matter unless you’re trying to figure the father out.
