Skin under tummy fold tearing during ultrasound?

What it says on the tin!

I'm only 7 weeks pregnant but I've had 2 early scans due to a previous loss, both times they've tried a normal ultrasound scan before having to do an internal scan. Both times they've had to press pretty hard right at the bottom of my tummy where my pelvis is (obviously 😂) and each time I've ended up actually splitting the skin there. It's right at the bottom of my tummy where your tummy would fold if you were sat up, right in the crease just above my lady parts. I think the skin there is extra thin. I was just wondering if anyone has had this?

Usually I have to just use savlon on it until it heals but I'm concerned that as my bump grows, that skin will obviously stretch. I'll mention it to my midwife when she reaches out to me in the next few weeks but wanted to ask the fount of all knowledge that is Mumsnet!

I had 2 CS the last one almost 14 years ago, but my scar tore slightly during a recent waxing. I didn’t have any issues during the pregnancy after the first CS

I am 14 weeks pregnant with my first and this also happens to me after every scan (I am a larger lady). I just bathe the area using an intimate wash and then use sudocrem or germolene and it clears up pretty quick.

As pregnancy progresses they will scan higher than the pelvic line so hopefully we won't have to put up with it for long!

@NewToThis25 thanks so much for that! I'm also a larger lady so I figured it was just because that's where my muffin top sits 😂😂😂😂 that's really good to know, thank you! X

Once it's healed it might be sensible to massage it with a cream or oil. You can get nice stuff for pregnancy to avoid stretch marks but it sounds like you might have to start immediately?

It's so strange because I've never had issues with it and don't have any issues at all until they do the scan, they press so hard (and I know they have to) but it hurts and then afterwards I'm left with a sore cut right in the center as if the skin is so thin and tight that it splits with the pressure of the ultrasound wand!

I'll invest in some cocoa butter or something to start massaging my tummy and that area, hopefully that will help! Thank you so much ladies
