Baby movements (37 weeks)

My baby was craaaazy active Monday - Wednesday. Today (Thursday) I've had nothing, an occasional flutter but not even a kick or punch, not even after ice cream or when lying down. I'm now lying awake really worried. When should I worry and call the midwife or consultant?

It might be that they have turned around and you can no longer feel the movements. This can happen, particularly at this stage. They may have been moving around to engage - don't worry that doesn't mean that birth is imminent at all. Mine moved like that from about 30 weeks too and then weren't born until full term.

Yes, always - If you are worried, call your midwife/ doctor.

Should add I had a very emotional day yesterday, cried a lot, very very stressed, proper panic attack didn't sleep for 24 hours (boss is a cunt and making my life hard), so did I stress out the baby?

Yes the movement could also be related to the stress.

I would say any change in movements should always be checked. Please don't become complacent around 37 weeks. Have baby checked even if just to put your mind at ease. Speaking with experience of late term loss relating to changes in movement- please please please have baby checked over. I am sure you're fine and baby is fine too but you won't know until you're checked. Good luck ♥️

Call them now. Don't lie awake worrying. They will talk to you and decide if you need to go in. I am a retired midwife.

Disagree with other posters …any changes in movement should be checked out ! Definitely go and be assessed. Probably all ok but …

krazynutnut · 09/08/2024 01:27

Always, ALWAYS, get checked if you have reduced movements. It's just not worth the risk.

Disagree? We have all said the same thing- to get checked over.

dontstopmenowimhavingagoodtime · 09/08/2024 01:29

Just get checked, then you can sleep

Call in sick tomorrow

Char95x · 09/08/2024 01:30

Definitely get baba checked if you are worried 🩷

nocoolnamesleft · 09/08/2024 01:32

Call labour ward right now. Sounds like you need to go in for baby to be checked out. Do not leave it.

icclemunchy · 09/08/2024 01:33

Any change in movement should be checked. There's a good chance you'll go in be out of the monitor and babe will perk right up. But for the very small chance all is not well the sooner you are checked the better.

PoopedAndScooped · 09/08/2024 01:50

Call NOW

Do not delay!!’

Proudmummy67 · 09/08/2024 01:52

Any changes or concerns go and get checked. Better be safe than sorry! Doesn't matter what time it is..

sel2223 · 09/08/2024 04:03

Agree with other posters, go and get checked out.
I went in quite a lot towards the end of my last pregnancy (anterior placenta so limited movements anyway) and was never made to feel a nuisance or burden.
In fact I ended up being diagnosed with pre-eclampsia on one check up and got admitted straight away. Section brought forward as baby had actually stopped growing.
It's likely absolutely fine but never worth risking it.

Toomuchgoingon79 · 09/08/2024 05:54

Always get reduced movement checked out x

WickWood · 09/08/2024 07:56

How did it go, OP?

Kiwi23 · 09/08/2024 11:52

Get checked if baby’s movement change at all at this stage should be checked don’t wait

WiseDog · 09/08/2024 14:12

Hope u OK and definitely get checked out don't stress out even more x

HuggingAnIcePack887 · 09/08/2024 21:52

Thanks all! I would have spent all weekend crying and worrying as I would have been too embarrassed to get it checked. As DH and I were getting dressed, baby started swirling around so we did leave it a couple of hours to the morning. Had it checked out around 8am and the first poster nailed it. Baby is ok but has shifted position so the kicks are not towards the front of my stomach anymore. He must have made all that effort to move and needed a long rest 😂 the first of many other stresses he'll put me through, I'm sure
