im wondering if anyone feels the same? I’m currently 17 and a half weeks pregnant we had an early gender scan at 16 and an half weeks and everything came back as it should.

I have an anterior placenta so I can’t say I’ve felt much movement but I’m just a nervous wreck! I keep worrying thinking the worse I’ve had a few cramps here and there and have had diarrhea a little bit since so worrying something has gone wrong but no bleeding!

sorry if I sound daft !

You don't sound daft at all. I think it's very normal to feel anxious during your first pregnancy because everything is new. Your body is changing and your hormones will be doing somersaults! I was heavily anxious during my first pregnancy - always fretting that something would go wrong or something didn't feel right when everything was fine.

Take comfort knowing your early gender scan went well - will you be having another one at 20 weeks?

17 weeks is still early to feel movement, particularly with an anterior placenta. I'd suggest discussing your anxieties with your midwife, as there is lots of mental health support available to help with anxiety during pregnancy

It’s unlikely to get movement that early on, whatever placenta position. Cramps are normal, unless pain is a lot, same with digestive issues. Have you had a miscarriage previously? Suggest you speak to midwife for mental health support if it’s affecting your well being. But you have to try and assume everything is fine!

Thank you @juicydroppop I appreciate the reassurance! It’s a crazy time and I’m sure everything is okay as I haven’t had any real reason to think otherwise but I have booked another scan for this weekend which I think now is silly but it’s paid for so hey ho!

@2mumlife I will definitely speak to my midwife about this! I honestly thought after my 12 week id be fine but nope!

@Peonies12 no I’ve never had a miscarriage so I think it just frightens me that you don’t know what to look out for as there are things such as missed miscarriages!

@Liltomo I am almost exactly the same. I had an early miscarriage with first ivf transfer and this is the 4th and I'm at the same point as you. I have placenta at the back so have felt movements which does help but the worry is constantly there.

Definitely speak to midwife as I was refered to a maternity mh midwife and it is just nice to be listened to and validated. Like what has previously been said above, you are normal and lots of people feel this way. I don't think it really gets easier but you just cope a bit better as time passes.

With a first baby I wouldn't be expecting to feel any movements until 20 weeks plus even without an anterior placenta.

I was very anxious during my first full term pregnancy following a miscarriage. Only time passing and things progressing eased the worry if I'm honest.

I would advise trying to keep busy so that the time passes quickly.
