Hello,

I am 37 weeks pregnant and had a growth scan yesterday as bump measurements hadn't changed for two weeks, the baby had dropped weight from the 75th centile to the 25th over a course of 6 weeks, the ob considered inducing early but due to everything else being okay and a strong fetal heart rate they have decided to wait for now.

Does any one have any experience in this? Were your babies born healthy? Will I be allowed to go past/up to 40 weeks or should I be prepared to be induced early?

They might do a rescan at 39 weeks and go from there. Keep a close eye on movements as you would be anyway x

Just try to keep in mind that these are estimates of babies weight. You also need to make sure you're comparing like with like - so was your first measurement 6 weeks ago from a growth scan, or just fundal height?

In response to "Will I be allowed to go past/up to 40 weeks"

This is YOUR BODY. You have to give CONSENT to anything to do with your body. Its not for your medical team to tell you what you can or cannot do. They can certainly give you medical advice (which of course you should listen to) but it is ultimately your choice.

It's unclear if the centiled are both from scans, if you are having growth scans you should disregard any fundal height measurements.
Reduced growth velocity CAN indicate a problem with the placenta but I would not rely only on this information alone. Growth estimates at later gestations can be wildly innacurate. They can check blood flow through the placenta and CTG monitoring.
With my second baby, the placenta was indeed failing (it looked terrible!) and we induced at 40+5 but there were other signs, not only growth. She was born super healthy however so it was a happy ending.
Indeed it is your choice what to do. I'm not sure what county you are in but at least in the UK many pregnancies are induced, and most are not necessary.

Thanks everyone, both measurements were from growth scans.

I maybe used the wrong word when I said 'allowed' I know it is my choice ultimately, I think what I should have said was how like is it that I'll be recommended to be induced early?

If you are in the UK, very likely. They are very quick to recommend inductions.
