I’m hoping someone has been in the same situation and can help! So I have growth scans every 2-3 weeks -
14/06 - 90th centile @ 4.13lb
02/07 - 90th centile @ 5.06lb
16/07 - 75th centile @ 6.2lb
30/07 - 50th centile @ 6.7lb

the last 3 scans baby has been so low down in my pelvis they’ve struggled to get an accurate head measurement, today my consultant said she wants me back for another scan in 3 days (Friday) and any reduced movements to go in.

ive had a previous MC so now my anxiety is through the roof, has anyone been in the same situation and did you end up having baby early? Thankyou x

Hi my baby went from 50th centile to 2nd. I ended up giving birth at 38 weeks. She's 7 months now and she's still slightly small and between 9th and 2nd centile 🙃

My baby was 85th, then 50th, then 35th at 35 weeks, I had an extra scan after that and he was fine, I was induced at 39 weeks but not for that.
He was born 50th centile in the end, now on the 20th! He likes to move around.
Don't worry, it's not that accurate

I would take the measurements with a pinch of salt as they are just estimations.
Throughout my pregnancy I was on growth scans every few weeks due to age and the measurements for most were showing between 83-95 percentile and they estimated a larger size baby (approx 8lb6oz).
Baby was born at exactly 40 weeks weighing 7lb3oz and 50 percentile.
Try not worry as any concerns they have they would act on asap. Good luck x

I'm really torn on these growth scans.
My baby ended up on the 3rd centile by 39 weeks, down from the 25th at 28 weeks.
I agreed to be induced at 40+5. The placenta was indeed failing. It was visually pretty scary as much of it was calcified.
However, we also had a couple of borderline doppler readings and CTG monitoring which passed but only just, so growth was only one factor in my decision to get her out.
The estimated weight was fairly accurate, (6lb 5oz) but when we eventually saw the scan report (after the birth) they had measured babies head as smaller than 2 weeks prior, which is obviously innacurate and I remember the sonographer struggled to get the measurements.
Having been told she was too small for labour a couple of weeks before, her heart rate did not slow even once.
I would caution against making a decision on growth alone, as this could well be innacurate at your gestation. If there are concerns about baby you could have doppler checks for placenta blood flow and CTG monitoring.
My advice would be to ask questions, trust your instincts and get all the evidence you can.

I meant to add that I had multiple mc before this pregnancy, so I feel you on the anxiety front. It's allot to deal with x

Definitely take these measurements with a pinch of salt, my baby was measured in the 90th percentile pretty much all the was through, and in fact the day before I delivered I'd had a scan and they estimated the baby was 8lb 1oz, he was born the following day at 6lb 13oz!

Thankyou so much everyone 💕 I woke up today in a better mind frame and baby girl has been very very active….. I also have just started losing my mucus plug tonight so maybe she has her own ideas of coming into the world early lol x

If the increased activity is a change then I would probably go in for monitoring

Longtobe2023 · 01/08/2024 08:22

@Evenstar i rang this morning and she said the increased movement isn’t a cause for concern and not to go in, she said only if baby becomes lazy because that’s a sign she’s saving her energy because she’s struggling.

Have my scan tomorrow so will check and also ask for a internal exam to see if I’m dilating x

@Longtobe2023 that’s good news, hope the scan goes well

2mumlife · 01/08/2024 11:56

Please remember, centiles during pregnancy are individualised and based on your age, weight, ethnicity, the weight of any previously born children. I'd take estimates with a pinch of salt particularly if baby is low down. Saying that, my growth estimates were pretty accurate for my previous pregnancy

Longtobe2023 · 01/08/2024 14:42

@2mumlife ive heard a lot about taking them with a pinch of salt, i was just slightly worried with the large decline. Im hoping I’ll get more answers tomorrow! My OH is 6ft8 so i was preparing for a whopper till they dropped us to the 50th so maybe she will be dinky but long :) not long and I’ll find out x

My DD was estimated at 6lbs 7 at 36.5 weeks. Was 8lbs 7oz at birth (41 weeks) so I'd assume you're on track for a slightly larger baby, but not a whopper!
