36 days since withdrawal bleed

Hello,

I was just looking for some other people’s experience’s of stopping the pill.

Its been 36 days since I finished my withdrawal bleed after stopping Rigevidon (I have been on OCP for 16 years)

We are trying for a baby, but still testing negative with no pregnancy symptoms. I think it’s more likely my cycle just hasn’t kicked back in yet, but as I’m a little bit older ( 35 ) I am also starting to worry about the other reasons my period hasn’t come yet.

Obviously I’ve googled so I know it says most people will have a cycle after 2/3 weeks but it can take up to 3 months too. Really I’m just looking for real stories of what it was like for others when they stopped taking the pill.

Thanks
RRB

It took me years to get back to normal cycles after the pill to be honest. But that was mostly because I have PCOS which had been masked by the pill. First year off the pill I only had two periods in 12 months. That was about four years ago. Exercise and healthy eating helped my periods come back and they got more frequent over the course of a few years. Last year I started inositol and got my cycles to 29-31 days. If you've been on the pill all your life it can take a while for your body to work out how to make the hormones it needs to.

Sorry I don't have a more positive story! Try to be patient (easier said than done) and fingers crossed you get a period in the next few months. If not it might be worth flagging with your GP, they will likely see you sooner as you are TTC and over 35.

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of thing I’m interested in hearing.

PCOS runs in our family, so it’s definitely up there on the list of things I’ve considered.

Im probably just being impatient. The online advice is so mixed. I’m hoping that hearing real stories like yours will give me a more realistic view.

If you have a history of PCOS in the family then it's probably best to assume you have it and follow a PCOS diet, it can't hurt and could help speed things up, or at least give you something to do and feel like you have control over! Reduce sugar, lots of protein and vegetables. Clare Goodwin's book Getting pregnant with PCOS was a life changer for me. She's also got a podcast. Good luck!

Hey. Mine took 30 days but I've read it can take up to 3 months x

I like the sound of doing something proactive and like you say, there’s no harm in it either way so yea. Thanks for the idea!
