Worried about reduced movement

Sliiim · 27/07/2024 11:56

I’m 24+4 and have been feeling little boy move for a while now. I have an anterior placenta and I’m panicking that for the last few days his movements have been quite dull and not so many.

I have bad anxiety but I then have bad anxiety about ringing up and speaking to someone. I have a midwife appointment on 31st.

Has he just moved into a space I can’t really feel him?
I can still feel him slightly so is that still okay?

Phone the hospital. Any reduced movement at all. Call the hospital or your midwifery team.

I hate making phone calls too but during pregnancy and once your baby is here you have to do it and put your anxiety aside (plus the more you do it the easier it gets).
If you don't get it checked and there is something wrong you would find it hard to forgive yourself.

Please go and get checked

Sliiim · 27/07/2024 13:25

Thank you for your messages.
when I finish work I’m going to call. Do I just explain the same thing to them?

Please call now. Don’t wait until after work. Just call now :)

WickWood · 27/07/2024 13:47

The liklihood is he's moved into a different place and you can't feel him as well BUT the advice is very clear, always always call for any change in movement, every single time.

I'd call now to be honest, it really isn't worth waiting around for. Write down what you want to say and read it when they answer the call ie "Hi I'm calling because I've noticed reduced movement over the past few days, can I come in to get checked today?"

I would but I wouldn’t be able to leave work early unfortunately

It's probably nothing to worry about but if you're concerned about reduced movements, you do need to prioritise that above work and leave early to be checked out ASAP. It's important.

Conversat1onswithfriends · 27/07/2024 14:09

If you’re having reduced movements you can leave work and they must let you leave, it’s a pregnancy related appointment.

ItssssAMeMariooo92 · 27/07/2024 14:15

They can't not let you leave, it's discrimination.

You need to go and they will have to find someone to take over at work

My daughter had this a few times during her pregnancy. When she rang her clinic, she was told take a fizzy drink and lie on her side for half an hour, if there's still no movement go into the clinic, it did get the baby moving. It won't do any harm to ring and get their advice.

Brilliant news!

GeorgesMummy5224 · 27/07/2024 20:53

I had an anterior placenta and was exactly the same as you. I also hate making phone calls. But if I was to be in the same situation again I wouldn't hesitate to go in. I went in 3/4 times for reduced movements, every time little man was fine, in fact once they were worried he was moving around too much but I just couldn't feel him.

It's so stressful having an anterior placenta so never be afraid to get checked out ❤️

MixedCouple2 · 27/07/2024 21:19

I had the same at 24 weeks and called within a few hours and was seen by my modwife she checked baby and assured me he was fine and assured me to call and come in anytime I am concerned. They said what is normal for you will be different to others. So they say to keep am eye at 28 werks but DS1 was moving a lot from 18 weeks so thwt was normal for memo also had an anterior placenta.
What happened was DS1 moved to face my back and I want feeling a much that way.

Don't ever hesitate if your concerned thats why they Midwives are there for.

Hi!
I am 22 weeks pregnant tomorrow and feel like my movements have reduced, I have an anterior placenta but the past few weeks I have felt the flutter sensations but I feel the past few days has reduced and sometimes nothing?
Has anyone had anything similar

If movements have reduced or changed, its always best to go to triage. Its normal that baby moves and you feel them differently, however the advice is very clear and should be followed. Good luck x

Mouche85 · 05/05/2026 11:51

Can I jump here and ask how to do you know movements have reduced?
It sounds silly but sometimes baby is asleep so how not to worry in these cases?
