I'm around 6 weeks pregnant (found out last week). I am constantly feeling nauseous, doesn't matter what time of day, and just struggling to eat anything. Luckily not experiencing any actual sickness, but just takes 10x longer to eat anything. Just wondering what foods/drinks are helpful when feeling nauseous.

It should get better once you’re through the first trimester OP. Ginger or peppermint tea might help. Or crystallised ginger. Personally I found grazing on nuts pretty much all day helped, but I did gain a lot of weight (it all went pretty quickly after the birth to be fair as I was breastfeeding). If it gets really bad go to the GP or ask your midwife.

I'd go for bland salty food like toast with salted butter, potato waffles, ready salted crisps. Not very nutritious but the main thing at this point is to get something you can tolerate into you for energy. You can make up for lack of nutrition once your nausea passes and you're up for food again! Trying to force yourself to eat something is helpful too, even if you don't feel like it at the time, having had something can often help reduce nausea than having an empty stomach. Even a dry cracker or rich tea biscuit by your bed so that you can have that first thing before you get up. And drinking plenty of whatever you fancy - fizzy juice, water, fruit juice - to keep yourself hydrated xx

I had awful sickness in my first trimester and was actually sick multiple times a day, it was awful! The things I found helped the most (although probably not the diet NHS would recommend🤣) were plain crackers, full fat coke, green grapes frozen overnight so they were crunchy like little ice lolly’s, salt and vinegar crisps, lots of freezing cold water and freezing cold apple juice, and pickled onions! That was basically what I lived off weeks 6-13ish of my pregnancy, defo not the recommended diet but it was the only things I could keep down and now have a healthy 3 month old baby on my knee so did me no harm x

Eating little and often helped me, and iced water - you'll find something that you can tolerate and when you do just go with it! Don't worry about nutrition, just take your folic acid and do whatever you need to to get through the next few weeks - you can do it!

I've got hyperemesis and it's grim what I can eat varies from day to day but often lemonade/apple juice and salt and vinegar discos/squares are my go to, jacket potato with salt on and melon. I'm usually very healthy and have a really varied diet but this is my third pregnancy and to be honest you'd be lucky if I'm hitting 5 fruit or veg a fortnight between 6-20 weeks 😂
Carbs tend to be your friend for the first trimester (or two if you're very unlucky 🫠)
