Has my baby 'dropped' at 29 weeks?

I had an ultrasound last week and was told baby is head down. This week I feel liked they've 'dropped' and I'm worried it's too early.

Symtoms are:

  • feeling movements lower than before
  • feeling movements way down in pelvis
  • don't feel as tight and restrictive at top of bump
  • breathing easier
  • appetite improved
  • pelvic pressure
  • low back pain

Anyone else had this? Does this mean baby may come early?

My first was low in my pelvis from very early on.
it was commented on by the obs team in EVERY scan after 20 weeks (I had enhanced so there were a few)
And more than one midwife was shocked at my mobility at 30/32 week and 36/37 week appointments

she arrived bang on time

@TemuSpecialBuy ok thank you! Wouldn't say I'm more mobile just my problems have moved location! But good know it doesn't necessarily mean an early birth!

I don't think your baby is big enough to have run out of room yet but if head down and back to front that might give you a bit more breathing space. Also now baby is a bit longer they could be sort of bent over so you can feel both hands and feet at the bottom.

I would say I am generally pretty inflexible 😅😅

but they seemed shocked I could get off the medical couch from my back and get to the floor unaided… maybe it’s just because I was so fat 🤷🏻‍♀️ (I gained over 4 stone in pregnancy no 1…it was a big mistake… huge. 😅)

My DD was head-down from 28 weeks, and had my 28 week growth scan for this baby last week and same (was sitting so low in pelvis already that midwife repeated head measurement a few times). DD arrived a few days after her due date. Head-down is different from really dropped - you can really feel the drop at the end (felt like have a bowling ball pushing on my cervix)

I also found this is the point you get the most beating - big enough and strong enough to hurt, and still have enough space to really take a swing at you in there. I found as pregnancy progressed movements changed, as too squished to get a good punch, was more like feeling something the size of a whale trying to roll over inside something the size of a walnut 😂

Thanks all. This is really reassuring. Been so worried about being breach, I think I've just transfered all that worry to the baby being too low now!

With my first pregnancy I had constant comments from sonographer and midwives saying how low down the baby was, head down from 28 weeks the same, my midwife questioned how I was still walking around at 38 weeks because he was so low...he came at 41 weeks 🙄😂
