Anterior placenta - no movement. When did you feel your baby?

This is my second pregnancy and I have an anterior placenta (this was mentioned in a private gender scan). I know this means I'll likely feel the baby move later or have faint movements, but I literally haven't felt a thing yet. I'm 18 weeks, but know quite a few other people with anterior placentas who have at least felt some movement by now.

I think this, along with the fact I'm feeling pretty normal finally (which is a good thing ofc), is making me feel just not very pregnant at all.

My 20 week scan is actually at 22 weeks so still a few months to wait and I just need some reassurance.

Has anyone else had this and literally felt nothing?

Yes - I had AP with both DC. I think I felt the first flutters with DC1 at around 22 weeks, with DC2 around 19 (I think because now I knew what the sensation was, with DC1 I thought it was trapped wind).

I had the same with my pregnancy last year. I felt movement around 20 weeks. I had several bouts of reduced movements and went in for monitoring. They team where really supportive and understanding and every time told me they would rather see me everyday and there never be a problem that me ignore it and miss something serious.

I remember how stressful it was with all the worry. We had a private reassurance scan before the 20 week scan because I was worried.

Also, by 30 weeks I felt regular, strong movements and occasionally saw a foot or elbow stick out of the side of my belly!

I had an anterior placenta with my first and also have this time (nearly 17 weeks now).
I didn't feel movements first time till nearly 20 weeks and then it wasn't regular and was in a lot for reduced movements after 28 weeks.
This time I thought I felt something last week but haven't had it since. Went for a scan (private) and placenta is anterior. I think they say you should feel movements by 24 weeks.

With my seconded baby I didn’t have an anterior placeneter but I didn’t feel baby love till like 23 weeks this is my 4th baby now and I have one this time and it was about 17 weeks I felt the first flutter

I was 25 ish weeks before I felt anything with my anterior baby.

I have an anterior placenta and it wasn't until 21 weeks that I felt movement that I was really confident was the baby. Now 30 weeks and I feel him regularly.

I had an anterior placenta and felt the tiniest flicker at 18 weeks.

First movement at just over 19 weeks but nothing with any regularity until more like 23+ weeks, and even then I still had days where I barely felt anything. Completely understandable that it makes you anxious, but there will be loads going on in there that you can't feel yet. I went to triage for reduced movements at 28+5 and couldn't believe how much baby was moving around on the CTG when I couldn't feel it at all.

I had this in my previous pregnancy and I am pretty sure it wasn't until about 24 weeks that I was sure I felt baby movements. I remember feeling very upset and stressed about it, but once they start you feel them regularly.

Around 21 weeks here!

HettyCletter · 22/07/2024 13:16

Me! This is baby 4, I’m almost 19 weeks and haven’t felt anything I can say is definitely baby.
I also had an anterior placenta last time but still felt movement by now, but I’m
trying not to worry as baby has been fine when I’ve had scans and midwife appointments.
I’m looking forward to a few weeks’ time when I should be able to feel movements.

Had a posterior placenta with my first and felt movements from around 16 weeks (though when I look back think I felt it before then). Anterior placenta this time and didn't really start to feeling anything until the 18-20 week mark. Now 28 weeks and feeling baby move lots, and even started being able to see bump move a bit with movements, so it does come eventually
