I hate to tell you but I needed a nap in the afternoon during both my 2 pregnancies! Pregnancy just tends to make me feel absolutely exhausted. Good thing is that when the baby arrives, you will feel revitalised! Hope you feel more energetic soon.

ROFL - yeah tomorrow you'll feel like running the marathon

Seriously, also 24 weeks and sooooo knackered. However have a toddler who doesn't nap so neither do I. I'm just about comatose much of the time though.

An afternoon nap would be heavenly. Being able to sleep beyond 5am would also be a treat. Oh and being able to sleep more than an hour without being kicked or needing to wee would pretty much make my weekend too.

Not that I'm grouchy about it

I am a crap pregnant woman... I attempt to sleep through the entire thing

Nyeh - me too! Unfortunately (for my mum) during my last pregnancy we were living with my parents as our property was being renovated. My poor mother waited on us hand and foot and I just lay on the couch all day. I nearly killed her off. Still feel guilty now...

I napped right until the end. Just had to sit down during the day and I was gone!

sweetkitty · 12/04/2008 23:13

I really would love an afternoon nap, unfortunately with a 3yo and 2yo I have no chance.

It has been proven that the baby produces hormones to make the mother sleepy so to use less energy so the baby can have it so you are completely justified in needing more sleep.

I worked full time but I did if I were in my home office have a little snooze at my desk most days, when I was pregnant with the twins but it was a different tiredness than in the first 12 weeks when I felt very very sick.

Very hard to do when you have other children around. When our 3rd was born the others were 1 and 3. In a way twins were easier because they would be put to sleep at the same times etc. It's different aged children which are more of a challenge and yet everyone went on about how hard twins must be. Not so. 3 littles ones like sweetk has is harder.

I needed to nap all the way through my pregnancy it's just bodies way of re energizing it'd get to 3 and wouldn't last any longer take advantage of it now as it won't be so easy when baby here i loved putting a film on and just relaxing and sleeping first 3 months i slept all day same again at 6 months

sweetkitty · 13/04/2008 09:34

Sometimes I find at 4 when I sit down I can find myself falling asleep.

I agree with Xenia I wish (sometimes) the DDs were twins as they would be at the same stage developmentally, I feel like we often have to down-play DD1's play so DD2 can join in IYSWIM.

Oh I wish they would nap in the afternoon though. Much easier working being pregnant than having a toddler and being pregnant. I spend half the day ferrying them to different activites as well.

Hi im 22weeks pregnant and i feel same as some people, just feel really tired and no energy-thought it says in the book your suppose to be more energetic around now i look after 3 kids as im a nanny and when I do want to just relax and have bit of break, do find myself trying to keep my flippin my eyes open. But then if im doin something I seem quite awake, can't win really.

bohemianbint · 13/04/2008 11:52

I'm 22 weeks with #2, and if I don't nap at lunchtime I pass out at 7pm. Thank god DS is a good sleeper or I would probably die.

bethoo · 13/04/2008 12:04

probably normal, i was tired all the way through though i did suffer from aneamia too. have you been tested yet?

BeckyBendyLegs · 13/04/2008 15:04

I've just woken up from a rare post-lunch nap (am 6 weeks with number three). Eldest is in Sainsbury's with Daddy and youngest is having his nap. Just as I was nodding off though youngest woke me up (I'd just put him down for his nap) to tell me via the baby monitor that he'd done a poo and broken iggle piggle. Humpth! I'd love a nap every day (I found with my last two pregnancies I benefited from afternoon naps all the way through - when I could get them). I did fall asleep while the eldest was watching TV the other day and he poked me really hard and said 'MUMMY WAKE UP NOW! YOU'RE MISSING IT!' So I'd say if you can have a nap, however pregnant you are, go for it! Make the most of it!

finallypregnant · 13/04/2008 15:12

32 weeks gone and still need a sleep!

ShellyS · 13/04/2008 15:27

I'm also 24 weeks and I'm always wiped out too.....was only saying to DH this morning that I thought I was supposed to have more energy now!!!!

Anna8888 · 13/04/2008 19:58

I needed an afternoon nap throughout the third trimester.

To be honest, by the end I could barely get up in the morning, have a bath, get dressed, read the newspapers and have lunch before collapsing for a 3-4 hour sleep.

It's very individual.

On the plus side, I recovered from the birth very quickly indeed.

daisy26 · 13/04/2008 20:15
