Hi all my 5 week almost 6 week old seems to be going through a sleep regression the last few days, I'm a FTM so it's a bit of a learning curve . She is fine during the night but during the day she fights her sleep it can take her hours to fall asleep after a feed we have tried tele in , tele off , white noise , darkening the room , going for walks . If she falls asleep on the walk she wakes as soon as we are home. The only way she will eventually fall asleep is on my chest which is fine but again it can take an hour or two. Is there anything I can do ? Is there something I'm doing wrong ? She is a very happy baby otherwise maybe a tiny. It of reflux but it doesn't bother her .

6 weeks is still so young, baby just wants to be close to you.I had to do all day naps in the baby carrier and all night sleep was on my chest until about 3 months. He now sleeps in his own room for all naps and sleep at 5 months.
I'd highly recommend using a baby carrier for day naps, don't worry about it "creating habits" it dosent :).

I have an ergo baby omni breeze which I love, when baby has good neck control they can also forward face and then it can be used on your back too.
personally prefered the structured carriers as tying the wraps would piss ne off 😂

mine was like this. Reflux was a big problem for her but I think she also just loved to be on us - all her naps were in the sling just like PP has said. We started with a Close Caboo wrap and when she got a big bigger moved on to the Ergobaby 360 (using newborn insert at first as LO was small) which we used for ages.

Honestly I think you have to go with it. They are so tiny and you are all they know. I was also in the position of having her sleep on my chest all night which seemed super dangerous, and we eventually found that she was less bothered by reflux if she slept on her front, which apparently makes it harder for the stomach contents to come up. Again not recommended but being exhausted with a baby on your chest is not safe sleep either. We tried out things like the Wedgehog and reflux meds like gaviscon and omeprazole - helped a bit.

Sorry to be focussing on the reflux stuff but I think sorting that made a big difference to my baby's ability to sleep without full body contact. Take heart that mine did outgrow it by 5 months or so and went on to be a fantastic independent sleeper.
