Breach 32 weeks - success stories/experiences?

Hi all

I am 32 weeks on Friday. Had appointment today and baby is breach.

Who's baby successfully turned/ am I worrying over nothing is there still plenty of time?

They said not to worry until 36 weeks then they will discuss options, and I read they will manually try and turn them?

Just want to hear off others who have either been breach at 32 weeks and what happened etc :)

Thanks

Mine was breach. I opted not to try the turning manoeuvre and was booked in for a C-section instead. But she turned anyway. Still went ahead with the section.

Mine was still breach later than that. My midwife recommended swimming which I did and she had turned by my 38 week appointment. X

Most babies will be head down. Theres some good evidence that moxibustion (an acupuncture treatment on your feet!) can encourage a baby to turn, and is actually more effective than a doctor physically turning them, especially if you get it done at 34 weeks!

WhatMe123 · 17/07/2024 22:01

Not breech but transverse, she moved around 36 weeks and my god could I feel it 😂😂 don't panic yet but there are positions you can use to help them to move. Lots of sitting with open hips on a ball, no slouching back on the sofa/in the car. Slouching makes the top of the womb bigger so helps keep the head up the top, you want to open the bottom of the pelvis to help them move the highest part of themselves, their head, down wards good luck op

TripleESept24 · 17/07/2024 22:04

Thanks everyone so I need to get swimming and bouncing on a ball!!

You’ve got loads of time yet. I did some of the spinning baby exercises you can find on YouTube xx

My baby turned breech about 10 mins before my c section (so uncomfortable!) so they definitely can still move. Opened me up and a big surprise to see a bum not a head 😅 that explained the very uncomfortable movement haha

ToriMJ · 17/07/2024 22:44

Try moxibustion, sounds mad but works!

Butterflysunshine01 · 17/07/2024 23:28

Plenty of time to turn, I’d be wary of the doctor trying to turn them manually as I’ve heard that doesn’t line the baby up in the best possible position for birth, something to do with the baby not getting themselves into that position? Not sure how much truth there is in that though but could be worth researching. Lots of sitting on a yoga ball and swimming to encourage the turn xx mine turned by 36 weeks x

Success in that I delivered a healthy baby albeit feet first Grin

Failure in that I was told by the consultant baby was head down at 30 weeks but sent for a scan as the bump was measuring small. Scan showed breech baby Hmm

Next midwife appointment was told she could understand why they made that mistake from external palpation but don't worry the baby will turn and sent home to do all the things (exercise ball, spend time on hands and knees etc).

36 week midwife appointment told categorically baby had turned. I quizzed how sure she was but she could hear the heartbeat low down in my pelvis so there was no way the baby was breech.

Labor at 39 weeks, midwife checks how many cm's I am and there is an ankle.
All hell breaks out, I'm rushed to theatre for an emergency c-section but delivered before they could begin while transferring me from the trolley to the operating table.

We're both unharmed and still here to tell the tale. But I did find it quite traumatic at the time.

My advice don't trust an examination, insist they do an ultrasound.

My baby was manually turned. I had other children at home and wanted to avoid a c section as I didn't know how I would cope with the longer recovery time.
The actual procedure was not very comfortable at all. But it felt safe and well controlled and she was turned and stayed head down. I had a vaginal birth with no complications.
At 32 weeks your baby might turn by themselves or you could consider the other options. All will be well, don't worry. xx

Oh gosh wow!! Bless you!!

I think if she hasn't turned nearer 36 weeks I will request an ultrasound to be sure!

And I will do anything to try turn her!! So will let them try turning her

Was breech at 32wks and had moved round by 36 weeks. I practised some moves from the spinning babies website there are some you tube demonstrations which helped

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 18/07/2024 08:12

Unsuccessful here I'm afraid. Breech throughout, tried swimming, accupuncture, spinning babies exercises, and even had an ECV.

I was given an elective date, but it was on my due date and my waters broke at home 11 days before that so I had what was termed an emergency section, but it was totally chilled out and not stressful at all. He was a big bsby so I don't think there was space for him to turn!

ladycarlotta · 18/07/2024 10:08

mine was breech and didn't turn - tried all the spinning babies stuff and she really tried to turn but couldn't manage to complete the manoeuvre. I had an ECV and that didn't work either - two people tried - was also extremely uncomfortable and I don't know if I'd bother with it if in the same situation again.

Had a lovely planned C section at 39 weeks which really couldn't have gone better. It's definitely not a terrible outcome. I think I'll try for VBAC with my second in the autumn but I'd be content with another section if it came to it - it was a really nice birth.
