Hi,

I've had the most awful morning...

Woke up at 5.30am to go to the toilet, but felt really really sick, began to throw up small amounts, this went on for an hour, then I was viloently sick, you know, where you can't control it at all and just gag, it was so horrible.

I then felt a little bit better and tried to go back to sleep, lot's of braxton hicks contractions and tummy feels uncomfortable. Then just got up half an hour ago but felt terribly sick again and just violently sick again...

I called m/w she said it could be signs that body getting ready for baby to be delivered but also could be a stomach bug. I haven't eaten anything dodgy lately though.

Any one else had this type of sickness close to labour?

Thanks

Blue x

I haven't had this type of sicknes, but was reapeatedly sick while in labour... couldn't belive my body could produce so much bile!

It could be a stomach bug causing you to be dehydrated which in turn increases the concentration of hormones in your blood causing the braxton hicks.

Or it could be the start of labour.

You should see a doctor IMO.

Sudden onset vomiting can be a sign of pre eclampsia.

Are you getting high abdominal pains/visual problems, swelling etc?

Bluebella · 12/04/2008 10:40

No swelling, I have had low abdominal pains, no visual problems.

I hope it's the start of labour rather than a stomach bug.

I don't even know how to contact my doctor on a weekend.

I just had a warm bath and going to go back to bed for half hour / hour and see how I feel.

Thanks for all your help, it's scary cuz I am all on my own...

maybe phone your labour ward and ask their advice?

Doesn't osund like PE then, that's good.

Call your local labour & delievery suite, rather than your Dr.

Hi, I got in touch with m/w again - she has said to drink flat coke and lucacade to make sure I keep hydrated, she said not to eat unless I feel like it. She said if I don't feel there's any improvement by 5pm then to call her back.

I haven't been sick for a good few hours, which is good. But I just feel so weak and tired, like every movement is hard work.

I really hope I feel better soon, this is horrible, and I keep thinking something really bad is going to happen to the baby because of this.

how are you now Bluebella?

Bluebella · 12/04/2008 18:37

Hiya, Thank you for asking :-)

I am still feeling really rough, but haven't been sick since this morning, have been keeping flat coke and lucazade down okay, but have been in bed all day.

I feel like I have no energy - prob as haven't eaten anything, well I just had a slice of toast and it hasn't come up yet.

Tummy still feels sore, but at least I am not vomitting anymore.

Lots of movements from baby which is good though.

xx

DD-38 weeks woke up violently sick terribly upset stomach weak all day midwife came to see me checked me over took sample dd born 38+1

DS-37+2 horrible uncomfortble bump, strong braxton hicks achy at top of legs and bottom of bump, by lunchtime horrible sikness upset stomach feeling weak ds born 37+3.

Both times I never kept anything down all day but suddenly in the evening I was starving and sent dh out for a chippy, in fact the second time with ds he actually said last time you were this pregnant and did this to me you had a baby the next day. By that point I was actually pretty sure I was having him the next day anyway.
